voxel records news #1 august 2014
greetings, voxel follower!

thank you for expressing an interest in our small (almost microscopic) label. we exist purely to promote new independent electronic music. check out the latest news and scroll down to find new sounds ...
what we do ...? we release music produced at the red-six studio. we also trawl the web, searching for others who are making great music in a similar vein. the aim is to promote the output of like-minded music makers using the awesome sharing power of the web - so hopefully this channel will bring joy to your ears, and more listeners to our artists and others.

who do what ...? our resident artists are maze car (a producer of cruiserweight electronic pop tunes with a dark but funky edge) and varjak (a project duo who occasionally make lush, emotive tunes from electronic meeps and wooshes).

maze-car-trust-me

the current single by maze car is out now and available from all good online outlets. we think the release is particularly apt given the recent criticisms of the corporate internet. maze car makes some simple observations about the wild tendencies of those that hold power in the form of information.

red-six studio ... has improved its acoustics and general layout. it has also provided a home for a little black box called moog. this awesome wee brute loves nothing more than to sit in the corner and be fed scraps of audio, which he shreds up and spits out when prodded with your foot. so much to give from such a small package.

blow trumpets, wave flags, and don't just whoop but also holler at the arrival of our new merch stall. here, you can bag yourself t-shirts and various curios - and as we are only small (almost microscopic), you will be the envy of your friends when you are seen sporting such original attire!

is anybody out there ...? yes. beaucoup. here is some of the stuff we discovered and liked recently.

Subsonic Dissidence by Avatar Liberation Front: this is fizzy and innovative electro. the funky voicing sits atop dark and glitchy rhythms that verge on the industrial - a bit like being stroked provocatively by heavy mechanical equipment, rather than being punched by it.
Automatic - Distorythm Mix by AkA: mesmerizing blips and squelches from this prolific producer of some of europe's loudest electro. AkA is a master of making powerful electronic sounds that are not only sweet and clean, but also bitter and filthy (in a good way). we also particularly like the AkA/Scant Regard interpretation of The Normal's classic Warm Leatherette ...
CAIN by *ROWE*: this track is sculpted from delicate vocal treats and kissed by a soft eastern ambiance. the production employs expressive, left-field techniques in terms of sound design, with effects woven carefully into its subtle rhythms. ROWE is a truly original produceress.
