NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C. – Weary members of Vancouver’s North Shore Rescue team have found a woman missing overnight in the rugged backcountry just north of Vancouver, but the work is not over for the volunteer rescuers.
Team spokesman Mike Danks says the woman was found, cold but in good shape, early Thursday morning in the Lynn Headwaters area after she became separated from her hiking companion.
Danks says teams are now turning their full attention to another search that was underway on nearby Crown Mountain Wednesday night when the unrelated search for the woman began.
Two rock climbers have not been heard from since Wednesday when they called a friend to say they were descending Crown Mountain, north of Grouse Mountain, and were off-course, but proceeding.
Danks says the men are on a very challenging route and only one is considered an experienced climber. A helicopter has joined the search.
