Hey, North Fork runners, swimmers and cyclists. There is still time to register for the Riverhead Rocks Olympic Distance triathlon on Sunday, Aug. 3.

The triathlon, which includes a 1.5k swim, a 40k bike ride and 10k run, kicks off at 6:40 a.m.

The race begins with a swim in the Peconic River (current temperature 69 to 72 degrees), followed by a flat, scenic bike course. The triathlon culminates with a run through the heart of downtown Riverhead, finishing in front of The Suffolk Theater on East Main Street.

If you are not in tip-top triathlon shape, come down and cheer on your favorite athlete.

Join sponsors The Riverhead Project and Crooked Ladder Brewing Co. for a barbecue following the race.

Entry fee is $175, but there is no race day registration. Click here to sign up and for more information.

Reigning champ Tim Steiskal bested more than 250 people competing in the race last year and also finished first in 2012. He also won the Mighty North Fork triathlon earlier this month. We wonder if he will do it again?
