TORONTO — Drew Barrymore’s half-sister has been found dead two days before her 48th birthday.
A cause of death has not yet been determined but investigators believe Jessica Barrymore, who was found in her car in National City, Calif. early Tuesday morning, took her own life.
Barrymore is the daughter of actor John Barrymore and his fourth wife Nina Wayne. John is the father of Drew Barrymore, 39, with third wife Jaid Mako.
John Barrymore died in 2004 at 72.
Drew Barrymore said in a statement: “Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible and I’m so incredibly sorry for their loss.”
The death of the Hollywood star’s half-sister comes just five months after the death of Julia Roberts’ half-sister Nancy Motes, 37. Her death was ruled a suicide.
