AUBURN, Alabama -- Charter Communications is finalizing a deal with ESPN to carry the SEC Network, AL.com has learned.
The cable provider, which broadcasts to 5.7 million customers, is expected to carry the SEC Network when it launches Aug. 14, according to a spokesperson with the cable provider.
The SEC Network will be available to more than 65 million subscribers when it launches.
The announcement Wednesday comes six days following the addition of Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. The SEC Network reached an agreement with Comcast, which covers much of Alabama and Mississippi, earlier this month.
ESPN has secured deals with AT&T U-Verse, Cox Communications, Dish Network, Charter, Time Warner, Bright House Networks and Google Fiber to carry the SEC Network when it launches.
Charter is the main cable provider in Auburn and is available in other spots in Alabama.
