Jackie Chan film shot at iconic Dubai locations

Kung Fu Yoga was made as a Chinese/Indian co-production and spent several weeks filming at luxury Dubai hotel Atlantis The Palm, as well as in the city’s Business Bay, according to a report in media outlet the National.

Filming was serviced locally by Alkatraz Productions.

"We worked on all the locations through our location department and scouted the locations for and with the Chinese crew – we tried to show them everywhere," said Ammar Al Khrisat, chief executive of Alkatraz, in comments to the outlet.

"Then we had to start working with the film commission. It wasn’t easy because there were a lot of road closures needed and that was all down to us.”

Dubai is a particularly popular filming location for Indian productions as the emirate city offers exotic visuals relatively close to Mumbai.

The city hosted a few weeks of filming for Star Trek Beyond, but Dubai generally attracts fewer Hollywood productions due to a variety of factors that include the lack of a formal filming incentive.

Abu Dhabi, in contrast, has a 30% filming incentive and recently hosted a familiarisation trip for Hollywood executives in a bid to bring more US shoots to the city.
