No. 4 Chase Krivashei named GNAC Freshman of the Year, Member of U.S. National Team

For the remainder of the summer the Humboldt State athletic department will countdown its Top 10 of 2014. The Top 10 will feature outstanding accomplishments, memorable moments and historic events during the 2013-14 Lumberjack athletic season.

Standing at 5-feet-9-inches wide receiver Chase Krivashei may be unassuming off the football field, but on it he made arguably the biggest impact of any single Humboldt State student-athlete during the 2013 season. The Corona, Calif., native earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year honors, broke program and conference records, and was selected to represent the United States at the American Football Under-19 World Championship.

Krivashei was more than a record-breaking wide receiver for the Lumberjack football program. He was an exceptional student and earned a 4.0 GPA as a kinesiology major.

Krivashei started nine games in his first season wearing the Green and Gold and made an instant impression on the offense and in the record books. He established the GNAC and HSU single-season receptions record with 96 catches, and also broke the GNAC single-game all-purpose yards record with 331 yards versus Simon Fraser on Nov. 9, 2013.

Despite a 0-11 season for the Jacks, Krivashei was tabbed the GNAC's Freshman of the Year and earned a roster spot with the U.S. National Team. He proved to be one of the team's most consistent offensive threats and helped it to a 40-17 victory over No. 1 seed Canada in the gold medal game in Kuwait City, Kuwait. He finished with 12 receptions for 166 yards and two touchdowns as the U.S. went 4-0 in tournament play.

Expectations are high for Krivashei as kickoff of the 2014 football season approaches. Please visit the other links below and see who or what holds the other spots in the Top 10 of 2014 Countdown.
