STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-- A Mariners Harbor woman backed up her car and struck a police officer before attempting to flee the scene Saturday night after he gave her a summons for blasting loud music, police said.

Jennifer M. Cumberbatch was parked in front of her apartment complex at the 300 block of Grandview Avenue at 11 p.m. with the engine on, radio blaring and with the windows and doors open, according to allegations in court documents.

"Just give me my summons. Just give me my summons," she told a police officer, according to court documents.

Cumberbatch, 29, was sitting in the driver's seat and put her black 2007 Dodge Caliber in reverse and struck the officer in the leg before attempting to take off despite numerous commands to stop, police said. Numerous police officers and civilians were nearby and in front of the car when she tried to flee, police said.

Authorities allege that Cumberbatch refused to turn off the engine and exit the vehicle, and flailed her arms to prevent officers from placing her in handcuffs.

Cumberbatch is charged with two counts of assault in the second degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, disorderly conduct and engine idling, according to a spokesman from District Attorney Daniel Donovan's office.
