One man is in hospital with non-life threatening injuries after his Cessna 180 floatplane crashed near Vernon.
The crash site is six miles northwest of the Vernon airport in a mountainous area near Six Mile Creek Rd. The plane went down in a ravine.
RCMP say nearby residents heard the plane go down and helped assist in the rescue of the lone occupant.
The 52-year-old pilot was conscious when crews reached the crash site. He has injuries to his lower body.
He is from Campbell river but was flying from Northern Alberta to Okanagan Lake. He told police the engine stopped and he went down in the trees.
He has since been released from hospital.
The Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP continue to investigate this case.
