The village of Portobello is 10 mins walk from the cottage along a scenic clifftop path. It is possible to walk across to the island at low tide. Only 17 kilometres to the centre of Dunedin (the Edinburgh of the South)city with its cultural attractions, restaurants, cafes and boutique bars.
The Otago Peninsula is Dunedin`s major tourist destination: Albatross Centre, Penguins & seals, Lanarch Castle (NZ`s only castle) are nearby and the glorious Pacific Ocean beaches with their network of walking pathways are on the seaward side of the peninsula (about 20 minutes drive). A beautiful and very special part of the majestic South Island.
