Organizing the lab and counting coral babies - WS GUAM 2014
To rule out any surprises, we made sure we had all the materials needed to construct the nursery. Dr. Laurie Raymundo―Coral Ecologist at the University of Guam Marine Lab―welcomed us and helped locate all SECORE workshop materials. Mitch Carl verified the numbers and condition of kreisels, tubes, hoses, manifolds and sprinkler heads. All was in place, so we are good to go!

In the afternoon we submerged at the Guam Piti Bomb Holes dive site to visit the midwater nursery that was built right after last year's workshop. Dirk Petersen and James Guest counted and measured the coral babies, while both Paul Selvaggio and Mike McCue documented their every move.

We all wanted to see the World Cup Final which would start at 5AM local time. So, after a few hours of sleep, we all gathered in front of the television. In the beginning we were all somewhat sleepy, but soon the excitement of the game took over and kept us all wide awake. Of course, with Dirk Petersen on our team―and with SECORE being registered in Germany―we all cheered for German victory!
