At a meeting on Wednesday, the board was informed that both sides had failed to reach an agreement on a contract.

In January, Leslie had been poised to take over as the Co-op’s CEO.

This was following Stan McCarthy’s resignation as Co-op CEO last summer. Leslie would have become the first co-op-only employee since the formation of Kerry plc.

It is now yet unclear what the next move for the Co-op will be especially in the light of McCarthy announcing this week that he would be retiring later this year.
