IVC is part of the Cambridge and Suffolk Schools Alliance (CASSA). We are joined with other leading edge schools spanning the full range from primary school years up to further education with our ties with Hills Road and Long Road Sixth Form Colleges. The aim of CASSA is to ensure greater success for all students within the alliance and that this can be achieved with a close working relationship between school staff across all the stages

As part of a wide range of activities to support reflection and development on effective teaching and learning IVC hosted the latest Teachmeet yesterday for schools within the alliance. We were joined by leaders and practitioners from Hills Road, Linton Village College, Long Road, The Parkside Federation and Witchford Village College for an evening of 2 and 7 minutes presentations on a range of educational issues.

Presentation topics ranged from:

• Raising achievement in A Level Sciences
• Flipped Learning in the Sixth Form
• Making Learning Visible
• "Who likes PIE?" A model for embedding inclusive teaching
• Ditching straight-jackets and spoon-feeding
• The Impington Toolkit - a model of superb teacher professional development

It was a superb evening and well attending by representatives from all schools. The evening was rounded off by one of our more recently qualified yet already proving to be inspirational in the classroom - Orris Gordon. Presenting at a TeachMeet is stressful, particularly for young teachers and certainly when there are Headteachers and Deputies in the room - Orris dealt with this superbly by teaching the whole group the choreography for Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
