Summer is well under way here in Chamonix, but for those of you that can't wait to start planning your next ski holiday, dates for the 2017-18 ski season have just been announced.

The ski season in Chamonix starts on different dates in the different sectors of the ski area, but on the whole if there's enough snow cover the ski season should start on 16th December 2017 and run until 1st May 2018.

One of the key differences this season is that Flegere and Brevent ski areas will be potentially staying open until 22nd April, to accommodate additional visitors coming to the new Musilac music festival which was announced earlier this week.

As is the norm, Grands Montets is likely to partially open on weekends in November, but a few other early dates have also been added to the schedule; Le Tour, Vallorcine, Brevent & Flegere have been earmarked as potentially opening on 9th December, and Les Houches on the third weekend in November - all snow cover dependant of course.

Take a look at the full breakdown of opening dates per area for more all the details, where you will also find winter opening dates for the Aiguille du Midi, Tramway du Mont Blanc and Montenvers Mer de Glace trains.

Ski passes prices will be confirmed and will go on sale later in the summer. In the meantime you can start searching for and booking flights, accommodation, childcare, ski hire, ski schools or private ski instructors and airport transfers.

If you've not been here before, then find everything you need to know about getting here in winter.
