Marsha Hunt, The Oldest Living 'Star Trek' Actress, Passes Away At Age 104

Marsha Hunt, the oldest living Star Trek actress, passed away at her home in Sherman Oaks, CA on September 7, 2022, at the age of 104. She was born on October 17, 1917, in Chicago, Il to parents Earl and Minabel Hunt.
Hunt began her film career in 1935 when she signed a seven-year contract with Paramount pictures where she starred in twelve pictures including Easy to Take (1936), Gentle Julia (1936), The Accusing Finger (1936), Murder Goes to College (1937). Though her contract with Paramount ended in 1938, she rose to fame as a suicidal coed in the 1939 film These Glamour Girls. Marsha Hunt appeared in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Too Short a Season” in which she played Anne Jameson, the wife of Federation negotiator Admiral Mark Jameson.

Hunt, along with her second husband screenwriter Robert Presnel Jr. joined the Committee for the First Amendment, which questioned the legality of the House Un-American Activities committee that aimed to root out communists in the entertainment industry, causing her to be blacklisted by Hollywood studios in 1950. During the lull in her career in 1955, Hunt toured the world and “fell in love with the planet.” She became an active United Nations supporter, wrote and produced a documentary film on refugees, and addressed homelessness in Southern California when she served as honorary mayor of Sherman Oaks.
In total, she had over 100 film and television credits throughout her life. She was named the inaugural recipient of the Marsha Hunt Humanitarian Award in April 2015.
