Star Trek 3 Release Date Confirmed! J.J. Abrams Passes On Directorial Responsibilities To ‘Amazing Spiderman 2’ Director Roberto Orci – Fans Not Happy

Star Trek 3 movie release date will be on the 50th anniversary of the series on 2016, but when J.J. Abrams decided to leave the directorial responsibilities in lieu of his upcoming "Star Wars Episode 7" film, the team experienced a major setback trying to find the right director to helm the highly-anticipate movie.

In addition, both "Attack the Block" director Joe Cornish and former producer and co-writer Alex Kurtzman are officially out of the project.

However, Star Trek 3 has announced that two newbie writers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will co-write the project with veteran "The Amazing Spiderman 2" Roberto Orci to reach their target release date.

The studio seems to be determined in pursuing with the third installment of the sci-fi film, that it has been reported that "The Amazing Spiderman 2" writer Roberto Orci will take over Abram's responsibilities to helm the project. It looks like Orci's campaign for the role paid off, that the executives from Paramount heard his plea.

"After an aggressive lobbying campaign, Roberto Orci has emerged as the clear frontrunner to replace JJ Abrams and direct Paramount's third instalment of the 'Star Trek' series," they reveal. "I'm hearing they're in talks... [and] this would amount to another first-time director taking on a massive project."

However, the recent development has made fans react and unfortunately not favoring Orci.
Comments from Popwatch Entertainment Tonight's article:

ChowYunPhat: Oh, goody. Maybe he can make ST3 a 9/11 was an inside job allegory. I'd so enjoy hearing some more of his crackpot truther gibberish.

alistaircrane: Honestly, in order to save this franchise, Paramount needs to hire someone completely unassociated with JJ Abrams. He and his ilk don't give two f**ks about Star Trek. THANKFULLY these films are set in an alternate timeline and don't affect the real Star Trek universe, but I hate that these films are some young people's first taste of Trek. They're getting a completely wrong message about Star Trek.

Tommy: He helped ruin Transformers, his script for the new Spider-Man was just dreadful, and Into Darkness had a miserable script elevated by the game cast and JJ Abrams' energy and sense of excitement. He attacked Trek fans online (told them to 'eff' off) and he was tweeting that the Boston bombings were perpetrated by US government, mere minutes after the bombs went off while people were dying and injured. He's entitled to defend his work and to his nonsensical conspiracy theories, but that's just classless.

jenn43: Please never say "go-aheading" again, Franich. It's even more insipid than the other teenage girl phrases and words you try to invent.

Previously, Alex Kurtzman announced that he will be dropping out from the movie due to a number of projects that he's committed to do at the moment. Another writer who co-wrote the script of the Star Trek Into Darkness movie, Damon Lindelof will not be returning as well.

"The duo will join Roberto Orci, who co-wrote the first two installments of the reboot with partner Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof. Orci is working without Kurtzman on this one.

The next Star Trek film is untitled and unscheduled, but Paramount and Skydance are hoping to have a film in time for the franchise to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2016. Stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana are expected to return," according to Hollywood Reporter.

With the new writers and rumored director, this could mean that Star Trek 3 movie is in good hands. Considering the fact that Star Trek Into Darkness was dubbed the worst movie in the sci-fi franchise.

What do you think Kpopstarz readers, will new director Roberto Orci reach Star Trek 3 target release date?
