Contemporary, convenient, innovative and stylish – just four simple words to describe the very exciting line up of new restaurants, bars and cafes being unveiled as part of Stansted Airport’s £80million terminal transformation.
World famous brands to exciting new concepts; celebrity chef treats to good old fashioned favourites are waiting in the wings to join the menu at Stansted.
70 brands chase 12 units
Demand from the Industry to get involved with this major redevelopment at Stansted was so high that over 70 individual food and beverage brands submitted tenders for just the 12 available units. The final selection delivers a wide and varied choice for customers whether they want to relax in style or quickly ‘grab and go’ and caters for all budgets and tastes.
Improving passenger facilities is a key driver of this multi million pound development and all the new food and beverage options are being located in one dedicated area, nearest the exit points to departure gates, giving passengers the convenience of making choices quickly and ensuring they’re as close as they can be before gate numbers are announced.
The new Burger King will open for business later this year and all remaining cafes, bars and restaurants in Spring 2015. New to Stansted, and some firsts for the airport travel industry include:
James Martin Kitchen
Affable and down-to-earth, chef James Martin is well-known to TV viewers across Britain. With its roots firmly in the farms of Britain, James Martin Kitchen is a premium bakery that will offer an exciting combination of fresh farm ingredients and the highest quality baking, and is ideal for passengers who want to eat in or to grab and go. The James Martin Kitchen will be making its debut at Stansted.
itsu
With two flagship restaurants in Chelsea and Notting Hill and approximately across Central London. itsu will open a bespoke shop at Stansted serving low fat and low calorie dishes full of Asian flavour including hearty low fat chicken noodle soups and delicious hot brown rice potsu – even the drinks are low in sugar making this a healthy living choice.
Harris + Hoole
An airport first – Harris + Hoole will open their first ever airport shop at Stansted. In the two years since Harris+Hoole launched its first shop in London, it has proved a disruptive force in the high street coffee market. Its intuitive app, which allows customers to check-in and order from their smart phones, has now been updated to include mobile payments – ideal for the time pressured traveller.
Giraffe
Offering freshly cooked world dishes in a friendly and lively atmosphere. Giraffe is suited to both those seeking to eat and fly or dine at leisure. International tastes range from Schnitzel to Stir Fry, Quesadilla to Ribs and always popular are the choices of pasta dishes, freshly prepared salads, club sandwiches and focaccia breads. There really is something for everyone and with a dedicated kids menu – Giraffe will be very popular with families too.
Halo
Putting some champagne and sparkle into the new catering area will be this brand new concept fizz bar – specially created just for Stansted and set in a prime centre piece location, it will be the place to be seen – giving passengers a chance to take time to indulge and watch the world go by – go on…treat yourself!
Leon
Proving popular on the high street, Leon – operated by HMS Host – offers quick and healthy fast food for travellers on the go – main meal options, served in Leon’s own hot boxes offer a wide variety of tastes from ‘chilli chicken’ to ‘moroccan meatballs’ and ‘superfood salads’ to ‘sweet potato falafel’. Light bites include wraps, burgers, noodle soups and the fish finger wrap is set to be a winner with children and adults alike; and giving passengers a good start to the day will be tasty muffins including salmon & egg, bacon and sausage; and Leon’s speciality ‘porridge of the gods’.
Cabin
Bringing a little luxury to Stansted, Cabin invites passengers to ‘make the most of their time, not waste it’. Cabin serves fine wines from a sumptuous bar area with a food menu of contemporary British delicacies created in an open kitchen. Welcoming and relaxing, Cabin’s stunning decor and elegant lighting will set the tone as passengers begin their journey. Cabin at Stansted is another airport debut.
Coast to Coast
An all American dining experience – rapidly growing in the UK – this will be the first ever airport “Coast to Coast” serving a wide and varied menu including Aberdeen Angus freshly pressed burgers, Chicago style deep pan pizzas, seafood delights and for those travelling early the breakfast menu – that does include pancakes with maple syrup and a big American fry up – sure to set people up for the day.
Pret A Manger
Pret A Manger has been serving handmade natural food and organic coffee to passengers at Stansted for more a decade now so what better way to mark this milestone than with news that it has not only secured a prime spot in the departure lounge renovation but will move into an even larger unit, widen the menu range on offer and give passengers a greater choice of the continually evolving Pret A Manger experience.
Starbucks
Starbucks is a truly global brand, with the highest reputation for quality, service and operational excellence. SSP, as the brand’s primary airport partner, will offer Stansted’s passengers the chance to enjoy the Starbucks experience in an environment that has been carefully tailored for the travelling consumer. The new outlet will be a Starbucks Evenings concept, a first at a European airport. A tapas and wine menu has been specifically designed to appeal to an international customer base with diverse requirements.
Burger King
Burger King restaurants, a familiar name on high streets and at airports around the world, is the perfect fit for the Stansted passenger in terms of product range, service style and value. The BURGER KING restaurant at Stansted will incorporate a new, urban design that offers style, comfort and convenience. All the amenities required by the busy traveller, including FIDS and power supplies, will ensure that they can relax and enjoy a great-tasting meal or snack before their flight.
JD Wetherspoon – The Windmill Pub
Passengers who already enjoy The Windmill Pub, that’s been a popular choice at Stansted for over 10 years now, will be pleased to learn it’s not going anywhere but simply relocating into a brand new space with a striking new design that’s a £2.4m investment by its owners J D Wetherspoon. Key features of the new look Windmill include an actual windmill centre piece and a new mezzanine bar level. The popular menu will continue to serve tasty and affordable dishes and the bar will stock English wines, Scottish malts and specialist real ales including those of local brewers.
M&S Simply Food
Marks & Spencer Simply Food stores bring M&S’s exceptional quality and innovative food products to convenient travel locations. The new store at Stansted will stock an extensive range of food and drink lines including products for customers on-the-go and for those looking to pick up food essentials and something for the evening meal on their way home from the airport.
