The Adams Family

Tyler and I had been trying to conceive for almost a full year during 2017. We found out in January 2018 that we were pregnant and just a month later in February that we were having twins. The pregnancy had many trying times that resulted in close surveillance, hospital visits and bed rest. At 22 weeks was the first admission into the hospital due to contractions; since I was so early in the pregnancy and already showing signs of premature birth, I was put on bedrest, instructed to only do the necessary daily movements. The scariest time of the pregnancy came at 27 weeks, where I was transferred to Northside Atlanta due to contractions and dilation. My doctor, Dr. Peahen Gandhi, felt that I might deliver that night and Northside Cherokee was not equipped to take care of babies born prior to 32 weeks. I spent a week in Atlanta; once the contractions were stopped, I was sent home. I was admitted back to Northside Cherokee at 31 weeks due to the same issues; contractions and dilation. It was scheduled for friends and family to attend a baby shower for the twins that weekend; we felt the baby shower would need to be postponed, but the staff at Northside Cherokee insisted the shower be held at my room in the hospital. Everyone was so accommodating, and the shower turned out perfect. I was sent home, but little did I know that I would return just 2 short weeks later. At my house I felt my body begin having contractions, more so than I had been feeling during my before mentioned hospital visits. After speaking with my doctor, I returned back to Northside Cherokee. I was now 33 weeks, able to have the twins at Cherokee, but still 4 weeks shy of full term. Very quickly after arriving at the hospital I was evaluated and determined to be dilated to 4cm. The staff sprang into action prepping me for surgery and the anticipation of our twins being born. Very scared, nervous and not knowing the outcome, I was wheeled back into the Operating Room. Two hours after arriving at the hospital, Dr. Gandhi and the medical team performed a perfect cesarean and our boys were born at 8:58PM & 9:00PM on August 24th.
