Presenting your 2020 Westfield Local Heroes
We are excited to announce your three 2020 successful Westfield Local Heroes for Chatswood.
These inspiring local leaders were nominated and voted for by the community and will now be awarded a $10,000 grant for each of their affiliated organisations to help their important work to grow.
Westfield Local Heroes is a community recognition and grants program, connecting and enriching local communities. Launched in 2018, the program spans our 42 trade areas across Australia and New Zealand. In 2020, we are awarding $1.26 million to 126 local organisations.

Your three Westfield Chatswood Local Heroes are:
Barbara Healy
St Vincent De Paul Society (Vinnies)
Tireless. Selfless. Dedicated
Barbara Healy is 80 years old, and the former Chatswood President of St Vincent de Paul Society is as passionate today as she was in1964 when she joined the charity. Barbara goes out looking for people in need of help and feels sad and angry when she can't solve their problems. "I always treat people in the same way I would like to be treated. I try not to judge or discriminate,” she says.
Cate Turner
The Older Women's Network (NSW)
__Indomitable. Engaged. Active __
Cate Turner is in her early nineties and knows from experience what it's like to rely on the aged pension. Cate has been an active member of The Older Women's Network since 1994 and is a local, state and national office-bearer. Helping others is what keeps her going, she says.
Lucy Jones
Neuroblastoma Australia
Indefatigable. Passionate. Legendary
Lucy Jones started Neuroblastoma Australia after losing her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Sienna, to cancer. The aim was to provide support for others and fund research to protect other people from the grief she had experienced. Lucy says: “Losing a child to cancer is simply dreadful. Watching them endure so many toxic and painful treatments over many months, and then for them not to be saved is simply heartbreaking. For me, in a modern society, it’s not acceptable.” Thanks to Lucy, the charity has raised over $2.15 million and supported many families.
We congratulate all of our finalists and nominees and recognise the important contribution they make to the local community.
