Crain has partnered with Bees in the D to introduce two honey bee hives in the surrounding area of our headquarters in Detroit. The organization has introduced more than 10 million bees and 170 hives in 50+ locations in Michigan, and they’re committed to education about the importance of bee colonies to our environment.
Bees in D’s website says “We are here to educate on the importance of pollinators and the conservation of honey bees while building a network of urban honey bee hives throughout Detroit, Southeast Michigan, and internationally in Canada.”
The hives are housed near the tree line in the open grass field in front of the building. While it takes time to establish the colony, the hives will eventually produce honey that we will provide to our employees in Detroit.
