Garbage Collection Program Next Steps
 

At last night's Committee of the Whole meeting, Village staff presented the results of the Garbage Collection Survey and request for proposal process to the Village Board.

Based on the findings from Phase I of the Garbage Collection Analysis and the anticipated benefits of outsourcing illustrated in Phase II, staff recommended to the Village Board that the Village contract with Lakeshore Recycling Services, our current recycling collection provider, for garbage collection services. 

The Village Board has asked staff to begin negotiating a contract with LRS and to continue evaluating quarterly fees. We anticipate that the Board will consider a contract in late summer.

Vehicle Related Crimes Persist in the North Shore
 

Last Friday, July 14, the Public Safety Department responded to over 20 incidents of vehicle burglary, including two auto-thefts that had occurred in the overnight hours. All of the vehicles were left unlocked by owners, making for easy targets.

It is imperative that you do your part to keep your neighbors and our Public Safety Officers safe by always locking your vehicles and removing any valuables - no exceptions

Weekly Construction Update

This week marked the beginning of sidewalk, curb and curb ramp replacement tied to street resurfacing projects. Other sidewalk replacement projects are scheduled to begin in the next 2-3 weeks. Grinding for street replacement projects is anticipated to start in the next two weeks. Storm sewer drainage improvement projects are also underway.
