Kisumu welcomes Cord leader Raila Odinga

Kisumu town was Saturday filled with excitement following the return of Cord principal and ODM leader Raila Odinga from his two months stay in the United States.

Most of his supporters abandoned their businesses to give their leader a befitting welcome from his stronghold.

Mr Adunija Odhiambo, a businessman dressed in a cap and t-shirt inscribed ‘baba when you were away’ was also not left behind.

He expressed his joy saying that he had missed the leader’s activities in the country and his comeback was going to put the government on toes.

‘’I’m happy because the man I eagerly waited for a whole week is finally coming, though I did not make it to Nairobi I will close my shop later and join others in celebrating Raila’s arrival,” he said.

“I will follow the rally keenly through television to watch what the leader has for us Kenyans,’’ he added.

Mrs Mary Anyango, who was accompanied by a group of ladies dressed in Cord caps and t-shirts, told Nation that they were only waiting for the good news that Raila had arrived safely in order to kick off celebrations.

“As ladies, we are also joyous of Raila’s comeback, we love him so much and we are here to show the love,’’ Mrs Anyango explained.

“Immediately he arrives we kick off celebrations and dance since we have really missed him,’’ added Mrs Anyango.

Bodaboda riders too, most of them dressed in Cord t-shirts and caps held processions around the lakeside town blowing whistles and vuvuzelas as a sign of waiting for the leader’s arrival.
