Grandfather Dies After Being Shot By Grandson On Memorial Day

CAMDEN-WYOMING, Del. (CBS) -- A grandson is accused of fatally shooting his grandfather in Delaware.

The incident occurred on Monday, May 26, around 6:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, authorities found 84-year-old Charles W. Semans had been involved in an argument with his grandson, 17-year-old John Rash. It is alleged that Rash then retrieved a shotgun and shot his grandfather once in the stomach.

Semans succumbed to his injuries on Thursday at Christiana Medical Center.

Rash was taken into custody on Monday and has been charged with assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He has been incarcerated at Stevenson House in lieu of $40,000 secured bond.

An autopsy confirmed Semans cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the abdomen. His manner of death is pending further review.
