Slaying victim ID'd as Delco man

Police today identified the man shot early Thursday in North Philly as Rahim Carter, 32, of Upper Darby.

An unidentified gunman shot Carter twice in the chest at point-blank range while he was sitting in a van with another man at 10th Street near Cambridge, police said.

Carter then drove the vehicle into a Dunkin Donuts about a block away, said police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little. Officers from a nearby public-housing complex found him there and took him to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he died at 4:53 a.m. The passenger in Carter's van was not injured.

There is no information on a motive or suspect, Little said.
