The Dead Women Poets Society RETURN to the Poetry Café (like a revenant) to resurrect 3 more fascinating women poets from death and patriarchy. We’re dead excited to announce that this time Helen will be joined by supernaturally talented guest poets Rachel Long and Emily Harrison.

Run by four ex-Foyle poets (Jasmine Simms, Sarah Fletcher, Katie Byford and Helen Bowell), the DWPS gives readings and lectures on the work of these literary queens, exploring their influence on us and our writing, and on poetry more generally. We’ve performed at Bradford’s Fuse Art Space, the Durham Book Festival, and with guest poet Frances Leviston inside Durham Castle, and are excited to be coming back to the Poetry Café following our successes there with Camille Ralphs and Phoebe Stuckes.

There will also be an open mic portion of this event, with the caveat that to read a poem of yours, you must read a poem by a Dead Woman Poet.
