City description of the city of Murrieta
Have the best real estate agent Murrieta has to offer supply you with all the information you need about the city and its data. Here are some of the main stats and figures about the city. Murrieta is a fast-growing city that is in California state and its’ precise location is in the south-western Riverside County.
Murrieta has recently come into the limelight nationally as one of the most rapidly growing cities in the entire state of California. Sample the following; Between 2000 and 2010 it grew a lot faster than the larger nearby Temecula on its’ southern border. This was a historical first. The twin cities (Murrieta and Temecula) are part of in the inland anchor in the region and form the south-western anchor of it. Murrieta’s population actually spiked by a staggering 233.7 per cent during the specified period to stand at 103,466 by the time the 2010 census was done.
This fast growing city is essentially a residential city and also commuter town in many respects. For instance most inhabitants commute to work in San Diego, Los Angeles, Camp Pendleton and of course neighboring Temecula. Murrieta borders Menifee and Wildomar in the north and of course Temecula in the south. Menifee and Wildomar are newly incorporated cities and this is further evidence illustrating the rapid population growth in the region generally.
The climate in Murrieta is mostly warm and pleasant like most of California. The climate is classified as dry-Summer Subtropical or Mediterranean. This gives the fast growing city a whole 263 sunshine days as well as 35 days of rain every year. Temperatures range from highs of 91F (77C) to lows of 60F (44C) during the warm months of April to November. This is the warm, hot and dry period of the year. Rain then falls between November and March. Annual rainfall averages about 15 inches and falls as light showers, heavy rainfall and even thunderstorms. The city basin rarely sees snow but the mountain slopes always get snowfall in winter. The area also has some of the most drastic temperature variations and fluctuations in the United States which is to be expected in this kind of micro-climate with the temperature gradient sometimes being as high as more than one degree per mile moving from the interior to the coast.
2010 Census===When the 2010 census figures were released they put Murrieta’s population at 103,466. The racial breakdown was White 69.7% (72,137), African American 5.4% (5,601) Native American 0.7% (741), Asian 9.2% (9,556), Pacific Islander 0.4% (391), other races 8.4% (8,695). Hispanic or Latino from any race stood at 25.9% (26,792 persons). Out of the total white population of 72,137 a majority of 55.7% were Non-Hispanic White.
The census went on to report that 99.6% (103,037) of Murrieta’s residence lived in households. The rest of the population, 291 (0.3%) and 138 (0.1%) were living in non-institutionalized and institutionalized quarters respectively.
Out of the total of 32,749 households, 15,863 households (48.4%) had children under who were under the age of 18. The reported average household size was 3.15. Families numbered 26,033 (79.5% of households) with 3.51 being the family size on average. 20,577 (62.8%) households were married couples of the opposite sex. Female householders running homes with no husband stood at 3,814 (11.6%) and their male counterpart with no wife were 1,642 (5.0%).
1,626 (5.0%) were opposite sex partnerships of couples who were yet to be married, with 192 (0.6%) same-sex married persons. 5,208 households (15.9%) were individuals with 2,248 (6.9%) being 65 years of age or older and living alone.
The census clearly showed that Murrieta’s population was mostly made up of young people. 30.4 % (31,471) are under the age of 18 while 9.6% (9,891) were aged between 18 and 24. 27.2% (28,144) were aged between 25 and 44. In comparison the median age in the entire US is 36.8 years.
The female to male ratio was 100 females for every 95.2 males. However it was slightly higher for females aged 18 and over standing at 100 females for every 91.2 males. The female to male ratio across the entire country is 100 females for every 97 males.
Campaign===Murrieta became a city in July 1,1991 shortly after the residents launched a campaign in 1990 for city status. The campaign was justified by the steep population growth. Between 1980 and 1990 population grew from 2,200 to 24,000. By 2007 it was estimated at 97,257 before the 2010 census confirmed it at 103,466.

There is one continuation school (Creekside High School), and one independent study school as well.
The rapid growth of the city has naturally put considerable pressure on the education system and there is currently a proposal to construct one more elementary school, a middle school, and at least one high school. New schools in the area include the Murrieta Mesa High School which was launched in the 2009-2010 school year. The city falls under the Murrieta Valley Unified School District (MVUSD).
The old Murrieta Hot Springs Resort now houses the Calvary Chapel Bible College while the Menifee campus of Mt. San Jacinto College is the closest community college.
