Tackle Dad's Honey-Do list this Father's Day

Most people have one - that dreaded list of things that need to get done around the home. Whether we're talking about a leaky faucet or a squeaky door, more often than not it's Dad and his extremely handy ways who ends up getting tasked with most of the chores on the infamous 'Honey-Do' list. Unfortunately for Dad, those lists have a funny tendency of growing over-time, quickly becoming an impossible list of things to accomplish before the end of time.

This Father's Day, we want you to do something extra special for the Father in your life and take some time to knock a few things off his honey-do list. We're sure he'll appreciate it and you'll feel so good knowing you've taken a load off his shoulders, even if for one day.

Fix the leaky faucet: The constant drip of leaky faucets can haunt your dreams and make your skin crawl. As annoying as it can be, it's one of those chores that gets put off for a long time with the assumption that making it stop simply isn't an easy fix. Not true!

Things you'll need for this repair:

• Screwdriver
• Penetrating oil
• Slip-joint pliers or adjustable wrench
• Replacement washers

The first thing you'll want to do is turn off the water supply – very important unless you want to take an unintentional shower. Next, get all of the water out of the pipes out by opening up the faucet and letting it drain. Pop the decorative cap off the top of your faucet handle with a screwdriver and remove the screw you'll find below, this will allow you to take the handle off. Once you've reached this point in your repair, you'll need to diagnose your specific problem. Replace the Water Filter on your Fridge: If it seems like you're waiting forever to get a glass of water from your fridge or your water has a funny taste, it is likely time to change your water filter. This is a really easy job that just about anyone can cross off Dad's honey-do list, and the best part is it takes no time at all.

You don't need any tools for this but you might want to have an old towel on hand to catch any residual water. There are a few different types of filters depending on the age and model of your fridge. Instead of describing how to replace each one, we'll leave it to our repairman Steve to show you!

Hang pictures: As elegant as we're sure your pictures look leaning up against the wall or gracing the tops of your couch and chairs, maybe it's time to actually hang them up. You might want to solicit a friend for this task to help confirm that the pictures you're hanging are straight and well spaced. Here are a couple things you should know about picture hanging before you start:

• In order to keep your room looking as spacious as possible, make sure you keep enough area around your pictures
• Pictures should be hung at eye level
• ALWAYS measure first!
• Use solid brackets, not wire on the back of your frame

Mow the lawn: Week after week, the lawn has to be mowed. Regardless of who typically does this in your household, taking over this responsibility for the day will give everyone more time to relax (and spoil Dad).

One important thing to remember when mowing the lawn is to wear covered shoes - under no circumstances does a severed toe make a good Father's Day gift. Other than that, cutting the grass is pretty straight forward. If your mower is gas powered, just add gas and pull the cord. If it's electrical, you just need to plug it in and off you go.

Quiet the Squeaky Door: Not unlike that dripping faucet, a squeaky door can be extremely irritating. Unfortunately, this common issue often goes unnoticed on doors that don't get used much and continues to get worse by the day. Clean the BBQ and cook Dad a delicious meal: After all that work, you're probably getting hungry and chances are the rest of the family is too. Check one more thing off Dad's honey-do list by cleaning the barbeque, followed by making him a delicious grilled meal.

Start the cleaning while your BBQ is still cool, removing all fuel sources before getting to work. Follow these step-by-step instructions from the Food Network to ensure you're giving the BBQ the best cleaning it'll ever receive.

One you're finished the hard part, kill two birds with one stone by cleaning while you cook.

• Turn on the BBQ and get the grill hot before starting to scrub. This will help loosen things up and make your job that much easier
• While you're waiting for things to get warm, take a few minutes to prepare your meal
• Using your grill brush and a little elbow grease, scrub away the dried-on bits until things start to look like new again. If it's been a while since the BBQ was cleaned, this might take some time
