Residential Advisor

$400.00 to $450.00 per week

Position Duties


SUMMARY

This is a 3 weeks residential position at the West Hills College residence halls. The Residential Advisor report to the Director of Special Grants and serve as the live-in staff members for the summer residential component. The RAs provide 24-hour supervision to Wonderful Education Summer Ag Career Camp participants in the dormitories and are expected to provide occasional tutoring and peer counseling; and serve as role models for program participants.


DISTINGUISHING CAREER FEATURES

This is an Adult Temporary Position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in assigned recreational and evening cultural activities.
  • Submit weekly reports to the Director of Special Grants.
  • Supervise residence hall activities as assigned by the Director of Special Grants.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of residence hall activities.
  • Reside in the residence hall, serve as on-call staff member, and respond to emergencies.
  • Enforce WHCC policies and procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Coordinate participant discipline activities and complete required reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualification


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • 21 years of age
  • Must reside on campus during summer component.
  • Background check clearance


ABILITIES

Must have demonstrated sensibility to the needs of educationally and economically disadvantage students.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Requires sufficient ambulatory ability to move to various campus and off-site locations.  Requires had-arm-eye coordination to operate a personal computer keyboard.  Requires visual acuity to recognize words and numbers.  Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations and to project voice to small groups.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate of Arts/Associate of Science (AA/AS) degree in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related field is preferred.
  • Two years residence hall experience and a grade point average of 2.5 or above can be substituted for the AA/AS degree.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Must have a valid divers' license.
