Man Killed In Shooting Near Gas Station In Wynnefield

By Jenn Bernstein, Al Novack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a 24-year-old man died after a shooting in Wynnefield late Tuesday night.

It happened at the Gulf Station at the intersection of Bryn Mawr and Wynnefield Avenues just before midnight.

Police say three men were outside the building, when a fourth man walked up to them.

A conversation then escalated to violence, when witnesses told police, that man pulled out a gun and started shooting.

A 24-year-old man was struck twice.

Medics rushed him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead.

Police are searching for the shooter.

One of the men is now talking with police, but police say they are still looking for the third witness.

Investigators also say the victim's car, a white Oldsmobile Bravada, is missing from the Gulf Station.

It's not clear who took it, the suspect, or the missing witness.

"We aren't sure if he jumped into the victim's car, since it's his friend's car, and took off with it," said Lieutenant John Walker. "Or if an offender may have gotten into that car."

Investigators are trying to figure out if the three men and the shooter knew each other.

If anyone has information, you are asked to contact police.
