A 69-year-old Massachusetts man was fatally shot Friday and his friend critically injured by a robber on a remote hiking trail in Northern California, authorities said. Francis “Pat” Gregory of West Tisdale was killed in the attack Friday in Red Bluff, the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday. Lieutenant Dave Greer said the robber shot Gregory and his friend — a 76-year-old man from Manton, Calif. — after taking their money and belongings. Another hiker found them on the trail about three hours after the shooting. Gregory owned the EduComp computer store on Martha’s Vineyard and was involved in civic activities in West Tisbury. (AP)
