Our Last Enemy “Devour The Sun” Music Video Premiere (Exclusive)

Published

on

Bloody-Disgusting has teamed up with Australian industrial metal band Our Last Enemy to bring you the exclusive music video premiere for “Devour The Sun”, which comes from the band’s latest album Pariah. The video mixes religious-heavy clips with performance footage where the band is covered in blood. Apparently, the blood-soaked members doused themselves blood from a local slaughterhouse for this shot, so a little admiration for their dedication is in order!

Directed by The Blackley Brothers, the video is, “A post-apocalyptic horror performance that blends the occult, manmade disaster, interpersonal turmoil, and themes of worship (and crisis) into a rollercoaster ride of visual extravaganzas.

Pariah is available now on iTunes.

Guitarist Bizz:

We wanted to go for a “b movie” vibe, by dropping in some old black & white footage, and intentionally making scenes like the tarot cards look grainy, even though they were actually shot in HD

Keyboardist/electronic Jeff:

This approach helped us to create more visual contrast between the shots of us performing and the inserts that we chose to help us to tell the story, such as people worshiping the sun, praying and crying, and lots of shit blowing up!

Bassist Matt:

I love the rockets especially… they’re a representation of mankind’s failed efforts for control. We definitely wanted to get that B-grade horror film feel, with blood… lots of blood. Like the Aztecs making a sacrifice to the sun god, we decided to take this video to the next level, so we literally bought several gallons of pig blood from a local slaughterhouse and poured it on ourselves… everyone was a bloody mess! Doing this video was more exhausting than doing a show as we had to keep the energy level up for the whole shoot. The crew ended bringing in these big industrial fans in to keep us from overheating, and they also helped w/ the overwhelming stench of pig blood. I don’t think any of us will ever forget that shoot!

Directors The Blackley Brothers:

10,000 Headless Horses was a music video of epic proportions; the intense use of SFX makeup, fire, multiple performance locations and a grand set design. This large scale music video suddenly became a world of its own. What attracted us to the concept of Devour The Sun was the ability to create a similar feel, but in complete juxtaposition to what had been done before. While 10,000 was such a large looking music video, Devour The Sun traps the viewer into a more claustrophobic situation, and the imminent
feeling that there is no escape. Yes, the idea of a world on the verge of extinction is a grand concept that applies to a mass population, but what we love about this music video is its ability to grab the individual by the throat and force them inside, suddenly making it all very personnel.
