Retired Homa Bay Catholic Diocese Bishop Linus Okok Okwach dies at 68

Retired Homa Bay Catholic Diocese Bishop Emeritus Linus Okok Okwach on Sunday died while undergoing treatment at St. Monica Hospital, Kisumu, at 68.

Kisumu Catholic Archbishop Philip Anyolo, who confirmed his death, said the retired bishop was admitted at the facility for injuries sustained after he fell in his house last year.

Archbishop Anyolo, speaking to Citizen Digital, said the deceased developed several complications following the falling incident.

Bishop Okok was appointed to head the Homa Bay Diocese in 1993 where he served for about ten years before retiring in 2002.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has since mourned him as a “true example of faith with deeds” saying “his death is a big blow to the Catholic Church, our country and the people of Homa Bay.”
