SAWYERVILLE, Alabama -- When the tornado approached the family home April 27, 2011, Elizabeth C. White was on the phone and had gone into a back bedroom. The 25-year-old's body was found by surviving family members.
White had been employed at a Wendy's fast-food restaurant in Tuscaloosa but hadn't worked since giving birth to her second child, a girl, less than 2 months ago. Her children survived the storm after their grandparents grabbed them up and ran into a large closet. White's brother-in-law, Henry Lewis, was killed in the same house.
