OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week, freshman forward Chase Pletzke and senior swimmer Izzy Herb are Miami's Athletes of the Week presented by Skyline Chili for the week of Jan. 6-12.

Pletzke continued his surge over this freshman campaign. The Bay City, Mich. native led the RedHawks with four points along with a pair of multi-point games in a split at Colorado College. Friday night saw the winger pick up an assist on the eventual game-winning goal and open the second period with a tally of his own in an eventual 6-1 victory. He was right in the middle of things in Saturday's comeback bid as he picked up primary assists on both MU goals as it clawed to within 3-2 after facing an early 3-0 deficit. Pletzke leads all Miami freshmen with 11 points, 10 of which have come in his past nine games.

This the first time this season and in his career that Pletzke has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week.

Herb led the RedHawks to a convincing 223-77 dual-meet win at Cleveland State to open competition in 2020. Herb swept the backstroke events, winning the 200 back (2:06.44) by more than four seconds and the 100 back (58.08) by 1.74 seconds. She ranks in the top 10 in the MAC in both the 100 back and 200 back. Herb also swam a leg on each of the winning relays as Miami won both the 400 medley relay (3:53.62) and the 400 free relay (3:33.68) by more than four seconds. Herb was the only backstroker to swim her leg in less than one minute in the 400 medley relay, doing so in 58.40.

This the first time this season and second time in her career that Herb has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week. She last won it for the week of Jan. 21-27, 2019.

The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Monday, Jan. 20.
