Bulky Items

When is bulky collection?


In the County of Simcoe, bulky collection is year-round by appointment only. The cost is $50 for every five items. Call Service Simcoe at 1-800-263-3199 to book an appointment.

What materials are accepted?


  • Mattresses and box springs*
  • Appliances (including CFC)*
  • Furniture and electronics
  • Metal and wood waste
  • Bath fixtures
  • Carpeting bundled and rolled
    (Max. 2.5 m x 30 cm in diameter,
    1 bundle = 1 item)

*Additional fees apply for mattresses, box springs and CFC appliances such as fridges, water coolers, AC units etc.

  • Hazardous waste
  • Overweight / oversized items (20 kgs per item)
  • Yard Waste & Brush
  • Bags of garbage or small loose items (place in curbside garbage cart for collection or purchase bag tags)
  • Organics or recycling (place in curbside carts for collection)

The County reserves the right to refuse items should there be evidence of bed bugs or based on size or weight restrictions.

How to I prepare bulky items for collection?


Follow these guidelines to ensure your bulky items are collected:

  • $50 for 5 every items Contact Service Simcoe at 1-800-263-3199 to book your collection.
  • Payment and a list of the items to be collected are required at the time of booking.
  • Material must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on the day of your scheduled pick up.
  • The County will collect only the items you identify, any changes to the items must be communicated to Service Simcoe no later than two business days prior to the scheduled collection day. 

The County reserves the right to refuse items should there be evidence of bed bugs or based on size or weight restrictions. Refunds are not provided if materials are not out for collection, if other parties remove materials or if items are not as described.

What happens to the bulky items after collection?


Bulky items are collected curbside, then transported to a County Waste Drop-off. All collected divertible items (i.e. appliances, mattresses, electronics, wooden furniture, etc.) are segregated to ensure minimal waste is sent for disposal.
