JACKSONVILLE, MO – Parents of the youth at Raising The Bar On Life Church are thrilled with a new summer program aimed at getting the kids out in the mission field. The program will coincide with the start of summer break and will conclude with a mission trip to a location of their choice. After much prayer, the group unanimously felt led to select The Sandals Resort in Hawaii.

“These kids today have no idea what life is like outside of their little bubble,” explained youth pastor Brandon Haverstick. “Occasionally you have to shake things up and let them see what the world is really like out of their comfort zone with some time in the mission field. This trip will do just that. When the Lord calls you somewhere you better respond!”

The missions trip, lasting a week, is being billed as a time of “suffering for our Lord by meeting the needs of the local community.” The agenda includes campfire worship sessions, beach volleyball and swimming.

“For me, I knew right away God was calling to me to Hawaii, “commented one high-schooler. “Being there will give us all a great chance to just do life and love people, like God does. Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s going to be tough though. With the crystal clear water, white sandy beaches and beautiful weather it will be hard to focus on Jesus; but, that’s the cross we have to bear.”

Unlike previous mission trips for this youth group where obtaining financial support has proven difficult, funding has come together rather quickly and little financial assistance is needed at this time. Many of the youth boys have already hosted several fund raising events and appear to be thoroughly motivated to cover their costs.

When asked why they are so motivated to raise money for this particular mission trip, one 12th grader simply responded with, “Babes.”
