There are reports that the government is planning on winding back the $1.8 billion Medicare Locals program in the upcoming Federal Budget.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott said before the election that none of the new Medicare Locals facilities would be closed.

But following a review of the system by Health Minister Peter Dutton, there are rumours that the program could be facing the axe.
