A real-estate blog has named Phoenix the second-best American city for Midcentury Modern architecture.

Scottsdale's collection of 1950s era homes designed by Ralph Haver and Al Beadle, among others, are gaining in value as an appreciation for midcentury modern architecture has grown in recent years.Shown here is a house by Allied Home owned by Ross Cobb and Shirley Kelly.

Modernhomesblog.com, a site by The Haverkate Group, a Rancho Mirage, Calif.-based real-estate firm, recently posted its top five picks for cities with the best Midcentury Modern architecture. Palm Springs topped the list, while Phoenix edged out Washington, D.C.; Austin, Texas and Denver.

The website noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright's presence in Scottsdale, plus, "Architects such as Al Beadle, Blaine Drake and Ralph Haver (gave) Phoenix a rich selection of stunning architecture."
