In that incident, Mr. Smith stole a girl’s pocketbook following a dispute and then fled the scene, police said. A warrant for him was issued and executed at the jail, where Mr. Smith is already incarcerated for other unspecified charges out of the Suffolk County Police 7th district, according to police.

• Bad driving ended up turning into a drug possession charge for a Flanders woman, according to police.

Tara Rogers, 42, was driving south on Flanders Road when she failed to stay in her travel lane Saturday night, police said. She was stopped near Ludlam Avenue in Riverside and found to have a revoked license, a drug pipe and crack cocaine in her car, police said.

Ms. Rogers was charged with two counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance.

• Michael Velys, 30, of Aquebogue, was charged with driving while intoxicated Friday night on Flanders Road and Bellows Pond in Hampton Bays, police said.

Mr. Velys was stopped for having insufficient tail lamps and the officer who pulled him over noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath. He also showed other signs of being intoxicated and failed a pre-screen breath test, according to a police report.

• A Flanders man who was pulled over Sunday for failing to stay in his travel lane was found to be drunk driving, police said.

Luis Escobar-Berganza, 27, was charged with driving while intoxicated and unlicensed operation at 12:45 a.m. near the intersection of Groves Drive and Albany Avenue in Flanders, police said.
