GoCo Community Transport has introduced the ‘GoCo Run’, an extension to its existing services.
The run will provide transport to residents of Tambar Springs, Mullaley, Premer, Curlewis, Carroll and Breeza.
GoCo will operate in each village one day a week and will offer door-to-door transport for medical appointments, buses for shopping and social events, and half-price taxi fares.
GoCo has been providing affordable transport to the Gunnedah community since 1988, and the village service is an extension of the existing operations.
GoCo Community Transport co-ordinator Suzi Beard said the transport will allow residents to have access to a beneficial service.
“The GoCo Run will provide safe, flexible and efficient transport for the residents of the villages and surrounds,” GoCo Community Transport co-ordinator Suzi Beard said.
“This will be a huge benefit to the community, especially those experiencing transport disadvantage and isolation.”
Breeza Progress Association member Gail Taber said the transport option will allow the village residents to feel “less isolated”.
“I think it’s a terrific idea and I’m glad it’s a regular thing,” Mrs Taber said.
“If you are stranded without a car or if you can’t drive, you won’t feel so isolated with regular visits to town. There are definitely people in Breeza who will use it.
“We are all ageing, so we won’t be driving ourselves around forever. I think in the long run there will be lots of people using it.”
GoCo Community Transport said wheelchair accessibility is available and an on board carer on request.
The service will visit Carroll on Tuesdays; Tambar Springs, Premer and Mullaley on Thursdays; and Curlewis and Breeza on Fridays.
Return trips using the service will be $10. Bookings are essential to secure a seat. For more information or to make a booking, contact GoCo Community Transport on 6740 2254.
