The thing about football coming home is that it comes home for everyone. For the most part this is a nice thing: people who would ordinarily choose Bargain Hunt over the Manchester Derby are now suddenly gripped by the quality of Kieran Trippier's delivery.

Occasionally, however, you have to endure people joining in who you really would rather football omitted from its homecoming tour.

Take for example the United Kingdom Independence Party, who surprisingly haven't collapsed in a fevered state after seeing the country adorned with St George's flags over the last few weeks. They tweeted this message out last night to congratulate the team.

Even with the advent of football's homecoming, UKIP trying to champion a team which has directly and enormously benefited from immigration and twist it to suit their ends was a bridge too far.

As you can imagine, the reactions to human earthworm Nigel Farage pronouncing that football's coming home were similar.
