Regrettably, there is just so much work to be done outside that you cannot stick indoors for long. Therefore, the need of the hour is to prepare or figure out practical ideas to cope with the summer heat and its dire consequences the most common one being heat stroke. Take a look at some of these ideas that will help you fight summer and protect your skin.

Shield your skin from the summer heat by applying sunscreen. A sunscreen with SPF 15, or SPF 30 should be applied before you step out in the heat. The lotion should be reapplied every 3-4 hours.

Drink More and More Water

As the body loses water content through perspiration during summers, hydration becomes significantly important. Therefore, you need to keep yourself hydrated by drinking at least 3-4 litres of water. Consider healthy food options such as fresh juices, stews and broths that pump water into the body along with essential nutrients.

Eat Healthy

Healthy eating during summers means eating light;abstain from fried and heavy foods. Alternatively, protein-rich food options along with salad made of tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, spinach and beans should be your meal for summer season. Eating light eases digestion and also renders benefits such as weight management.

Summer is the perfect time to make style statement; attractive sunglasses can serve the purpose. Shop for a sunglass that gives you UV protection along with fashion value that keep your eyes protected during summers.

 

Cleansing is a Must

Daily cleansing is another way to protect the skin. The pores must be kept free of hardened oil. If the skin is oily, an astringent toner should be used after cleansing. Rose water can be mixed with cucumber juice and applied on the face. Or, try to get witch hazel. Mix rose water and witch hazel in equal quantities and apply.

Fight Acne

If you have blackheads, a facial scrub should be used on the affected areas. But do not apply scrubs on acne, pimples or rash. Mix rice powder with rose water. Apply it. Leave on for five minutes and wash off. This can be done after cleansing in the morning. The scrub can also be applied on open pores and the marks left by acne. You can also mix oatmeal with egg white and apply on the face twice a week.


Protect the Tresses

It is also important to make sure that the hair and scalp are kept scrupulously clean. If the scalp is oily, or if there is dandruff, it can lead to pimples and acne. Keep the hair away from the face while you sleep. If you workout daily, wash the face with plain water after workout.

Eat Fruits

To reload body with water content, one can have fruits such as watermelon, grapefruit and pineapple. Fruit juices or fruit salad between meals is an excellent energiser. Oysters, mangoes, apricots and gooseberries are some other fruit recommendations for summer.

Go Natural

If your skin is oily, avoid using oily creams. Sandalwood paste can be applied on the pimples, acne and boils. If there is a rash, mix sandalwood paste with a little rose water and apply on the face.

For dry skin, mix one teaspoon each of honey and curd and apply daily, washing off with plain water. Honey is a natural moisturiser. Curd softens the skin.

Dress like a Mexican

Attires such as Mexican or bowling shirts fulfil the ventilation requirement during summers. Wear airy clothes that help keep cool. Avoid synthetic fabrics that may cause prickly heat, skin irritation and rashes. Light coloured clothes, or white coloured clothes that absorb lesser heat than dark coloured clothes are recommended for summers.
