OSTERVILLE, Mass. — The 2019 edition of the New England PGA Cape Cod Fall Festival kicked off with a bang on Tuesday at Oyster Harbors Club. Four teams tied for the top spot in the Two Best Ball of Four (one gross, one net) format, shooting 10-under par 134.

The team format, which counts the team’s best Gross and the best Net score on each hole, challenges two players to score on each hole to really go low.

The squads from Winchester CC, Presidents GC, Wollaston GC, and Blackstone National GC shared the top spot in the first of four NEPGA Pro-Am tournaments on Cape Cod this week. PGA Professional Eric Barlow’s team from Winchester CC played the back nine at Oyster Harbors in eight-under par in the team format to propel themselves up the leaderboard. Dana Smith, PGA, and his Presidents GC team played the front nine in nine-under par 63 en route to their own 10-under par performance, matching Jeff Martin, PGA, and his team from Wollaston GC, and the Blackstone National foursome led by Patrick Beahn, PGA.

Four more teams finished just one stroke out of that four-way tie for first. Host PGA professional Sean Edmonds and his Oyster Harbors team headlined that group at 9-under par, joining Nonesuch River led by Jim Fairbanks, PGA; Bass Rocks led by Todd Scarafoni, PGA; and Michael Chase, PGA.

Patrick Beahn won the individual professional competition by two strokes, shooting 4-under par 68. Beahn, who started on the 15th hole in the shotgun start, birdied holes 15, 16, 2, 10, 12 and 14 with just two bogeys on the day. Matt Baran, PGA (The Ridge Club) shot 2-under par 70 to take second in the individual professional division, followed by Barlow, who shot 71. Edmonds, Scarafoni, Lou Rivers, PGA (Foxborough CC) and Frank Dully, PGA (Kernwood CC) tied for fourth after shooting even-par 72.

Thank you to NEPGA partners Lincoln Motors and Goslings for supporting this exciting week once again in 2019, and to Oyster Harbors and head PGA Professional Sean Edmonds for opening their doors to more than 100 lucky golfers from all over New England on Tuesday!

Cape Week continues on Wednesday at Hyannisport Club before heading to Cape Cod National on Thursday and wrapping up at The Wianno Club on Friday.
