Bowen Boys #2.5

Inked Ever After

Rate this book
Tattooed bad boy James Bowen is about to marry the love of his life. Everything would be perfect if it wasn't for the tiny detail that his bride-to-be is freaking out big time. And trying to hide it from him.

Tate Cooper is losing it. She loves James with all her heart and wants to be married to him; it's the getting married that's killing her. Still grieving the loss of her father and brother, and totally overwhelmed by the wedding arrangements, she's in full emotional meltdown. But James deserves a happy bride, not a high-maintenance, sorrow-filled, guilt-stricken one, and, by God, she's going to give him that, even if she has to paste on a smile and fake it till she makes it.

James doesn't know whether to be amused or pissed. He understands she's running scared, but there is no way in hell he's going to allow this to continue; he's going to push her to confront her fears until she happily embraces their ever after.

After a colorful array of jobs all over Europe ranging from translator to chocolatier to travel agent to sushi chef to flight dispatcher, Elle Aycart is certain of one thing and one thing only: aside from writing romances, she has abso-frigging-lutely no clue what she wants to do when she grows up. Not that it stops her from trying all sorts of crazy stuff. While she is probably now thinking of a new profession, her head never stops churning new plots for her romances. She lives currently in Barcelona, Spain, with her husband and two daughters, although who knows, in no time she could be living at the Arctic Circle in Finland, breeding reindeer.

Cliterature: Oxford Diction of English

– No Definition Found!

Mwa ha ha!! I should think not but I love it. Cliterature – a whole new genre!

It’ so good to be back in Elle Aycart’s fictional world and to catch up with James & Tate as they prepare for their nuptials

We’re thrown straight in at the deep end at Tate’s bachelorette party which is a sea of pink bunnies. Tate is more than a little drunk and James arrives to take her home.

“My knight in shining tattoos,” she said, her words a bit on the slurry side.

She was so cute when she was trying to be funny. “My bigoted, drunk bunny.”

Tate had been a bit of a hard sell for me in More Than Meets The Ink – I found her to be very judgemental and hated the way she hurt James. Thankfully, she’s moved on from this but James is still worried about his bride to be.

Tate is becoming stressed out, withdrawn and sad as the wedding date approaches and he’s worried that she’s on the verge of an emotional breakdown. She’s overwhelmed by sadness that her father and brother won’t be around for her big day. He grief is almost crippling her and she really made my heart hurt.

So this novella takes us down a path that brings James & Tate closer together than they have ever been before as they work through those last remaining emotional barriers between them. Both James & Tate use every kinky trick they know to distract the other with sex as they slowly move forwards together and attempt to put the pain of the past behind them.

This is deliciously erotic and it feels far more like reading a full length novel than a novella as Elle Aycart packs so much in. Tate has grown emotionally so much since we first met her in More Than Meets The Ink and James is as wonderful as ever. I have really big hopes for the rest of the series as this is packed to the rafters with super-hot, protective bossy alpha heroes and kickass heroines – hopefully all to star in books in the near future. Great and sexy and very romantic novella.

I love you, James Bowen. Even if I could live a million lifetimes, I could never find a better man than you. Or a better father for my children. And tomorrow I’m going to stand by your side, damn proud to marry you in front of God and everyone.

A Hearts On Fire Review

FOUR STARS--"I SMELL SEX AND CANDY HERE..."

Why am I quoting Marcy Playground lyrics? Well if ever there was a theme for Elle Aycart's HEA follow-up, "Inked Ever After", sugar and sex are definitely the main players. Sweet, sexy vanilla spiced fluff is the mood of book #2.5 of the Bowen series, ladies and gents.

And it stars one of my all time favorite book heroes, James Bowen. I've come across plenty of romance novels and this character remains in my top ten of all time.

"My knight in shining tattoos"

James and his lady love, Tate, are back in "Inked Ever After" with less angst and a lot of sex. This series must be read in order. You can read the full details of how James wooed the ultra stubborn Tate in "More than Meets the Ink". And I do not call Tate stubborn lightly, she's not a favorite choice of heroine for a good number of readers. (I didn't mind her so much, she was naive in her prejudice and she does make bigger strides in this book to not come across as snob.)

The couple is back with more caveman-ish, alpha, protective OTT, tattooed goodness. Tate continues to grieve over her father and brother's deaths and not share her feelings with James. But anyone who knows James Bowen, knows he does not stand for that crap. He handles her quite lovely. His dirty talk continues to be A+++ So sweet he is.

There's not much to say in regards to this book. We don't learn much more about the couple, there's a minor surprise towards the end. We get to revisit with the great cast of characters and witty dialogue that this author is known for. Tate continues to be spoiled by her man and shown that a relationship works best when both partners are in together 100%. Hot sex was had! (can we say public sex? yum!) Love was declared on numerous occasions and the nuptials have finally happened.

Please no more follow-ups and side trips, I'd like to carry on with the series. Thank you. I need Max's book (Bowen #3) like yesterday and Jack's book seems like it will pack a powerful punch if Elle is to be his leading lady. I enjoyed their dangerous flirting in this book.

This is recommended for Bowen men lovers all around the world, fans of sugar and sex with bit of kink thrown in. *cough*nipple clamps*cough*

Gah! Love these Bowen men and series!

God, this book took me forever. But not because it is long, just because I couldn't catch a break and had little to no reading time this week. FML.

However, once I managed to snuggle down with James and Tate, this was a super quick, cute, steamy read and a nice addition to the Bowen series.
3.5 ★★★✰

"I'm so glad you're marrying your hard-on girl."

If you've read the first two books and love the Bowen brothers, you'll like this. It's nothing monumental, nothing life changing, nothing too heart racing... just a nice fill-in.

It crosses over with Bowen #2 and you see some of Cole and Christy's issues playing out whilst James and Tate get closer and closer to their wedding.

"Falling in love is fucking hard on the knees, especially on the untried and unwilling ones."

My problem with this book was Tate's self depreciation. The whole 'You deserve more than me/I'm not good enough for you.' thing really pissed me off. I wasn't a fan of that at all. So, I could five star this. I get that she had issues to overcome and that that was part of it, but it annoyed me. I wanted to slap her. James clearly adores the ground she walks on. So I'm glad those insecurities didn't stick around for too long.

"I'm not scared anymore. I will not let her terrify me. Or keep me on my knees. I'm yours, fully and unconditionally. For however long we get, I will stand on my own two feet. By your side."

The sex was hot! As it is always is in Elle's books. There was quite a few juicy scenes packed into one small book, which was fun.

"You're the one, princess. The reason I wake up with a smile on my lips. The reason it stays on my face all fucking day. When I hurry home from work, I'm hurrying back to you."

And James is just... James. Sexy, possessive, domineering, over protective, yummy! Lol!

"I love you. Taking care of you is not a bother, princess. It's my prerogative. I want you, forever. All of you. Yes, sometimes you make me spitting mad, and yes, you've given me headaches, and you'll probably give me many more, but I'll tak all of them gladly for a chance to wake up to you every morning for the rest of my life. There is nothing about you I'd change. And as sure as fuck I don't regret you. I'm crazy in with you, Tate."

So, if you've read and enjoyed More Than Meets The Ink and Heavy Issues, you'll enjoy this quick, easy read.

Awwww, this was such a sweet novella! :)
It was good, after two books, to finally see James and Tate's HEA. And all the sweet and sexy that came before that!
And it was especially good to see Tate finally be able to mourn and accept her father and brother's death. Even when she really freaks out in the beginning.
This book has allowed me to find out that Max is definitely my favorite character and now I can't wait to read his book!

If you liked the previous books in the series.. you have to read this! :)

JAMES BOWMAN CAN DO NO WRONG!

This man has a dirty, filthy mouth and a huge, loving heart. I was THIS close to throttling Tate and marrying him myself.

Looking forward to Max's story. And maybe a story for Jack? Yes? No? Maybe?

This is some smutty goodness. Pick it up in between your long ass novels for a quickie...book break, that is...

Okay after reading More than Meets the Ink I was so ready some more James & Tate ~ I mean come on the chemistry between these two is....

Well James has convinced Tate to marry him! Yes I was ..............

The book is told in both POVs ~ and we get to see Tate is still struggling ~ really hard ~ with the loss of her Father & Jonah, and this is starting to manifesting itself the closer the wedding gets. Yes she has more times where she is...................................

but she thinks she is doing a great job "hiding" it but in reality she's not and James decides he is going to take charge ~ in typical James fashion. Now if James walked by me I would...............

Oh there was so much of this going on.................................

that I literally was fanning myself but that's not all this was about. We see James take care of his "woman" and there were parts where I

yes I wanted Tate to be better I knew it wasn't an overnight thing and I was finger crossed the whole way through. I had moments of..........

and definitely some of this..........................................

then the UN-FREAKING-THINKABLE happens and I was.....................

but then a few days later I was doing this like a schoolgirl .........

it was awesome to see these two work out through Tate's problems and see Tate open up to James to the point she finally gives him her all and she does something for James that I think he was doing this....

but then he recovered and got right back down to business in typical James fashion if you know what I mean ;) I also read the epilogue which was PEFRECTION and when I got done I was so totally............

I ADORE Inked Ever After ~ to see James & Tate get their happily ever after was perfect for me. This 5 star read had the "heat" oh yeah that James he's one hell of a sexy tattooed keeper. I laughed and I did cry cause I felt the pain Tate was experiencing but in the end I had the biggest freaking smile ever.

If you've read the first book you HAVE to read the conclusion I mean our favorite guys are there James, Max & Cole and of course, Jack. I sure hope I get to see more of these guys I need to know what woman brings Max to his playboy knees and Jack well I know who I want him to end up with ~ the question is will that ever happen? Ladies, get out there and read this one like NOW!!! I promise you will fall in love all over again with the Bowen clan!!!!

Fact: I will read any book Elle Aycart writes. Why? Because she writes some damn good sex. Also, who doesn't love a series about hot brothers? Am I right? While James isn't my favorite Bowen, there's no denying that James and his fiancee Tate have some serious steam. Don't get me wrong, I really liked More Than Meets the Ink and I fell in love with James and Tate's story then.

In this novella, James and Tate are in wedding planning mode. The wedding preparations are bringing up some issues that Tate hasn't fully addressed. I won't say what they are, because you need to read the first book, if you haven't already. Just know that James is there for Tate completely. I mean seriously, these Bowen boys were raised right! Not only are they out of this world sexy, but they know how to treat their women! James isn't just good in the sac though. He's truly a sensitive guy and he hates to see Tate so sad during what should be a happy time in their lives. With his love and support, Tate comes to some closure and it was pretty emotional to read.

As for the sex, if you can't already tell...it was beyond hot. I swear, Elle Aycart doesn't pull any stops. The sex scenes are graphic, but tastefully done. And I will say that James has a very healthy appetite. Tate is one lucky lady!

Overall, I really liked Inked Ever After. I've been missing the Bowen's. Cole in particular, whom I did get to see. Oh! This novella runs parallel to Heavy Issues, which I thought was neat. I appreciate when authors tell different stories in the same timeline. I'm crossing my fingers for Elle and Jack's story next. Although, technically Jack isn't a Bowen, but he's close enough and Elle is Tate's sister. I also can't wait to see what Max's story will be. I think it will be HOT!!!! If you haven't been introduced to the Bowen's, you must! Elle Aycart's books are always among my top recommended Erotic reads.

*Side note: the girls in the book call erotic books, cliterature. LOVE this and am going to use it!

Well, I didn’t love it. And that’s a bummer because I really thought I would. Maybe my expectations were a little too high and I set myself up for disappointment. I really liked More than Meets the Ink and loved Heavy Issues. Now don’t get me wrong, Elle Aycart is definitely a solid writer and she definitely can write steam. Although I loved James, I didn’t love Tate. I don’t remember her being so annoying in More than Meets the Ink. I could almost overlook it because James lights me from the inside out if you know what I mean. In other words, that man is one fine piece of tail. I love him. As in, find him hotter than HOT! Unfortunately, I just felt disconnected with Tate and thought she dimmed the loveliness of everything that is James.

Also, I normally don’t complain about the costs of many books because I don’t mind paying for an author’s hard work. But I felt that charging over $6 for 175 pages was a little high. Luckily I was able to borrow the book from another reader and didn’t have to shell out the cost.

Overall, while I didn’t enjoy Bowen 2.5 as much as other books in this series I am still a fan of Elle Aycart and will continue to put her books at the top of my TBR list. She definitely has major talent when it comes to writing enjoyable stories with smoking hot sex! I’m especially anxious to get Max’s story which unfortunately I don’t think there is any release date on that at all. Another bummer. Crossing my fingers that something is announced soon on that.

I'm bumping this up to a 3.0 read because it is solid writing but more of a 2.5 because I'm over Tate.

More James Bowen? Or any Bowen for that matter?? Yes, please!

I was thrilled to discover there was another book out there about one of my favorite tattooed boys.

The story was really nice (even though too short) but I am still not a fan of Tate's. Girl, I get your issues (been there myself) but don't get your reluctance to share them with James. Why do you think we get together with people/agree to marry them?? So maybe we don't have to deal with issues on our own any more. I guess she got under my skin (and not in a good way) in the first book so I feel like there isn't anything she can do/say to redeem herself (in my eyes, anyways). Whatever. I guess, everything worked out in the end and they all lived happily ever after.

James is one of those rare male heros that is absolutely perfect in every way! The guy literally can do no wrong. I'd say he is the reason both books are worth reading.

Adore Bowen family dynamics!

I am DYING for a book about Elle and Jack 'cause you KNOW those two were headed in that direction! And Max needs his own story too ... PRONTO!!!

I'll be honest and say that I would wait till this goes on sale before you try it. Cute but too short for the $7.00 it's priced on Amazon at the moment.

3.5 stars (not quite 4 because of it's length).

OMG!!! I LOVED THIS BOOK!!

Tate + James = Most perfect couple EVER. Period.

description

I really appreciated how James always put Tate first. He understood her pains and insecurities and did whatever it took to make things work. I also appreciated when he called her out on her sh&* and told her when something's up. Only a true person who loves and cares for you would do that.

In this book, Tate is still struggling with the loss of her father and brother. She also goes through times where she feels inadequate for James and that he could do so much better than her BUT that's not enough to discourage or deter the ever persistent James from claiming his woman at the alter!

---------------------
What I also liked:
Elle and Jack's banter. Too funny! Lol
Also hoping that maybe a Max and Emma [Jonah, Tate's deceased brother's gf] can possibly get together.

----------------
If Ms. Aycart does continue this series I'm SO ON BOARD toward reading the other characters' love stories! At least I'm really hoping she will! :D

I loved the story of Tate and James. Complicated? Oh, hell, yeah. Steamy? You better believe it (...as in read it with oven mitts!). But good? Aw, man, yeah.
Elle Aycart gave me another love story that doesn't fit the 'norm'. That gave me characters that I could identify with, hope for, and then get excited about their HEA.
I'm left wondering about the brothers (Max and Cole) as well as the other ancillary characters as well.
Which, to me, is a sign of a good book.
A book who's story you don't want to end.
Recommend. Uh-huh, big time.
Girl, you've just got to have at least on Elle Aycart in your Kindle, Nook, iPod or Phone.
She'll blow your socks off!

Re-read via audible. New narrator so better than More Than Meets the Ink, but not great or worth buying.

James rocks! But holy cow Tate was an annoying, needy, whiny pain in the ass! She spent the entire book crying! Totally safe read.

Jenny: This novella needs to come with a warning: Read whilst sitting in fridge! Ummm….so….gulp…dirty talking James Bowen is back and oh my, hasn’t he ramped up that naughty mouth of his quite the notch since we last spent time with him Gitte? We first met James in Inked Ever After and his dirty talk was pretty hot, then along came Cole Bowen and I thought he was the king of the dirty talkers….but James is baaaaack and wow! I need a minute…..*fans self*

Gitte: James ‘filthy mouth’ Bowen is indeed back and wow…*fanning myself* too…he is so amazingly HOT!! Sure thing Jenny, this novella should definitely come with a warning. Fridge? More like Freezer….

Jenny: Yep, you’re spot on…freezer it is! This was such a good companion to the Bowen Brothers series and it does compliment the series. What is there to say about dirty talking (have I mentioned this?) alpha, possessive, hot as hell James Bowen that we haven’t already said before? Yep, he’s still as alpha and possessive as ever and even more so with his impending marriage to Tate, the love of his life just moments away.

Tate Cooper is deeply in love (and lust) with James, and can’t wait to marry him, but why is she freaking out at the prospect of the big day looming? Tate has past issues she is still carrying around. Still grieving the loss of her father and brother and feeling completely overwhelmed with everything going on around her. She is trying to be as happy as she can, hiding her grief, fears and panic attacks from James and he’s giving here space…to a degree.

James, in true James style lets her….well….to put it James’ way “fuck her way out of it” and my, oh my doesn’t he do that well….extremely well it must be said.

He certainly knows how to get her mind off troublesome thoughts, but he knows she’s just masking her issues and at some point they are going to need to confront and sort out the problems plaguing them before the big day.

He needs to think of a way to get Tate to face here fears head on and he decides enough is enough (not sex, ‘cause there would NEVER be enough of that for the insatiable James) and he is going to get his woman to trust him enough to open up and let him help her and to give into him heart and soul.

Gitte: I LOVED catching up with James and Tate in this well written and addictive novella. I pretty much inhaled every word…and not only the filth that came out of James’ mouth hahaha, seriously this guy is LUSH!! No, what I especially loved about this story is to be reminded of how possessive James is, how passionately he loves and how fiercely protective he is of Tate. He would literally do anything for his woman and there is nothing he wouldn’t do to make her feel safe, happy and loved. He wants his big wedding day, he want to do everything right by Tate.

James knows Tate is weighed down by emotional turmoil. She is indeed hiding something and James goes above and beyond for his woman to get to the bottom of it and make her feel comfortable enough to open up to him. Now, I had a few issues with Tate from More than Meets the Ink and I was worried that this would continue into this one. Well it did for about a few pages in then I understood and she brought tears to my eyes. James is such an amazing man who enables the trust and the faith.

Jenny: Tate does have to learn to let James in. All the way. She has given her heart but he wants more and she has to learn to lean on him. Being a born protector he is overwhelmed with the need to protect this woman with every breath he takes. I loved seeing these two come together and become one. How they had to learn together along the way and grow with each other.

As Tate deals with her insecurities and grief, and James finally gets her to open up you know that these two will be okay. Theirs is a love that runs deep. They will prevail. I loved this novella and I loved sharing this time with James and Tate. I can’t wait for more in the Bowen Brothers series. Yep, love this author’s work!

Gitte: It is not often we get to share a journey with a couple; the ups and downs, only to fall right back in with them and feel that feeling all over again coupled with angst and heightened emotions as to what obstacles may or may not be thrown at them before they reach their happily ever after.

Well, this Author did just that and I have to say, she is without a doubt becoming one of my favourite Authors and I cannot wait for ‘Jack & Elle’s?’ story and of course ‘Max and x’s?’ Bring it on….

Oh and just an FYI….. Elle Aycart….is now a firm favourite!!

A special thanks to Elle Aycart for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

The follow up for James and Tate in Inked Ever After was great! I was definitely pleased with the outcome and couldn't have asked for more.

We first meet James Bowen when he's down in Florida visiting his dad. He's recently been heartbroken by his ex wife who cheated on him. With the loss of a wife and the baby to be, James has closed off all romantic notions of settling down. It's all work and very little play for this one.

Then there's Tate. The spunky, head strong, determined young woman whose trying to hold it all together after the passing of her father and brother. She's been running on 'EMPTY' for a while now trying to keep the family business afloat and maintain some sense of sanity. When she visits her mom in Florida she never expected to run into a man that would literally change her biases, way of life, and break down all the walls she's so strategically placed around her.

Now that James and Tate have overcome past relationships issues, personal hang ups, and family drama they stand together looking to make their relationship final–tying the knot. The hopelessly in love couple has faced several challenges dealing with trust, grief, independence, and even self worth. One thing is for sure... the love that Tate and James share for one another was a perfectly woven tapestry of challenges that formed a union stronger than any relationship that I have read over the past year. You can definitely feel the emotions in the pages of this story and feel for both characters as well as those around them. I'm so glad Elle decided to follow-up with their HEA! It really put an end to some of my poor reading list.

The BEST Thing:
Finally I'm able to have an emotional connection to a story and its characters. It feels like it's been forever. I fell for James when he was initially introduced because of his 'I'll take care you no matter what attitude' but this book just solidified how much I liked him. He's almost too good to be true.
I also liked how the story flows. There's not an over kill of sadness and drama, in fact there's just enough drama and comedic scenes to keep the balance.

The WORST Thing:
I really don't have anything horrible or bad to say about this book. I think the worst thing is really having to wait so long to get my hands on the next books in this series :(

This is a follow on to 'More Than Meets the Ink' and follows Tate and James as they prepare for their wedding.

For fans of the first book you will love this. The sex is off the scales with James Bowen demonstrating his skill for dirty talk is second to none. Tate has moved on from the annoying drama queen by actually opening up to James and accepting him warts and all (or tattoos and all)

Great supporting characters, my favs are Jack and Elle who HAVE to end up together. We get a glimpse of Cole and Christy happily together after their great story was told in 'Heavy Issues'

Fun and steamy addition to an already favourite series of mine.

James
“I don’t want to hear any more moronities. So shut it and listen, because you really need to get this. You’re mine, and I will not give you up. Not today, not tomorrow, not fucking ever. You do not tell me what I deserve. You do not lie to me. You do not hide. You do not put up a front for my benefit. And you do not put yourself down. Are we clear? Nod if we are.”

Tate
“I wanted to show you that you’re the man I love, and that there is not a single part of you I would change. Not a one, James. And I’m very sorry if I ever gave you the impression I’d be embarrassed of you or your tattoos, because that’s not the case—not at all. You could cover your face with ink, and I would still want to claim you as my own.”

In More Than Meets The Ink, I wasn't that taken with the heroine Tate and actually thought the hero James deserved someone better but in this book, the author does a good job of showing us another side of Tate and by the end, she had me convinced that this was the woman for James.

If you love Kristen Ashley books and her alpha males then you will love James. I loved all his alpha ways. Tate and James have a lot of sex in this book and this author definitely knows how to write a good sex scene!

I waited a long time to read this book due to the price of this authors books. I have asked her about it and she said it is out of her hands and the price is determined by her Publisher which is a shame as I think she would have even more readers if her books were a cheaper price. This one has now been reduced considerably so I was glad I finally got to read it and I loved everything about it.

I know the next book is about James' brother Max and that fans have been waiting for that book but having read about Tate's sister Elle and James's friend Jack in this book I am very intrigued by those two and can't wait to read their story and I wish it had been next!

If you have read More Than Meets The Ink and were slightly disappointed in it then do give this one a go. It rounds off their love story very nicely and Tate is a changed woman and James? Well he can do no wrong in my book!!

SUPER SEXY

In this follow up to More than Meets the Ink James and Tate are busy with wedding preparations. Tate is finding it difficult that her father and brother won't be there for the celebrations. It's been two years since they both died, and with her wedding fast approaching, she feels their loss deeply. James knows what's wrong with Tate and wishes she'd turn to him and let him help her.

In this hot follow up story to James and Tate's first book. There's plentiful sex, and it's hot and passionate. I really liked James's character in the first book, he was even more attractive as a character this time, he's all out alpha male, add in his dirty talk and he's pretty irresistible. Tate was a big improvement as well. I actively disliked her before, but she managed to grow on me more here, she'd lost those judgemental and prejudice traits that were so unpleasant in the first story. I thought they seemed more of a match now.

Interesting turn of events! I loved this one more than I did More Than Meets The Ink! The sex scenes were much hotter, Tate seemed different, more likeable, non-judgmental...just a girl dealing with her impending nuptials without 2 of the most important people in her life that had been savagely ripped from her.

There were definite nail-biting moments...especially when we thought there was going to be a repeat of loss for Tate. There were very sweet moments as well that included James' grand gesture to give back Tate a piece of her happiest memories with her father and brother, as well as Tate's proof that she was no longer a judgmental bitch.

Loved this! Can't wait to read the Epilogue: Inked Ever After!

I liked this story but the h's constant crying and being depressed ruined the mood sometimes. The H was great, I don't have any complaints about him. There moments where the couple's love and support of each other was so OTT in its sweetness that it gave me cavities. I don't think the story should have been as long as it was. There were some scenarios put in there that just wasted time. Anyway, I guess for those who love the first book, they will really enjoy revisiting this couple.

The first book was really good. This book was great! Oh to my surprise Tate, wow. Even though she was getting on my nerve with the jitters and trying to provoke problems. James was a darling from the beginning to the end. Great Story. Well done Ms. Aycart!
