January is National Stalking Awareness Month.

At the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, deputies are trying to teach people about the issue.

Deputies say stalking can be different types like repeated unwanted calls or someone physically following and watching you.

reports that Fayette County Deputy Brittany Whitcomb says she dealt with stalking back in college and knows how scary it can be.

"We had a rental property and someone, who worked for the rental company, came into our home and they took items that were ours," said Deputy Whitcomb.
