Two lynx yell each other on the road and it's amazing: VIDEO

Tuesday, May 22, 2018, 2:07 PM - On May 18, Nicole Lews was driving near Avery Lake, Ontario and passed by a pair of lynx that were involved in what appears to be a very serious conversation.

The encounter was caught on video (turn the volume up on the video above) and was uploaded to Facebook where it quickly went viral. Since Friday, it has been viewed more than 7 million times.

Lynx are solitary animals, so it's rare to find two of them together. It's even rarer to see them engaged in this form of screechy dialogue.

National Geographic says lynx make the high-pitched sounds seen in the video above during confrontations, especially if it's the first time they've met.

The lynx is the most widespread wild cat in Canada, and is best identified by its tufted ears and large paws, although they are sometimes mistaken for bobcats.

It is not an endangered species and has plenty of space to roam, with a total North American range of 7.7 million km2 -- although some of that range has been lost to deforestation and human activity.
