Willow Cross’s “Inheritance” is the first book ever I’ve read of this author, and I can assure you it won’t be the last! I was always wondering why other readers were gushing about her books, until I read “Inheritance” - and I was blown away, to say the least.

First off, I need to mention here, that I don’t usually read werewolf-themed books or anything related to werewolves. I find werewolves dreary and the theme repetitive; but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is not the case with “Inheritance”. After finishing the book in only a short time, I can safely say that Willow Cross’s imagination knows no boundaries. I have never read a werewolf-themed story before that has evoked such emotion from me, as this one did. Not even the werewolves in the “Twilight” Saga are as real or as beautifully depicted as the ones in Willow Cross’s “Inheritance”. Werewolves are not the only interesting characters the reader meets in this book though. Witches, vampires and a whole array of exciting characters, adds to the splendour of this extraordinary book.

The non-stop suspense unfolds from the first chapter right through to the very last page; and the well-crafted plot in this book is what sets it apart from other werewolf-themed novels and makes this an outright unique read. The author’s attention to detail is evident as she succeeds in creating a homely and welcoming, but also familiar, setting for the characters to develop in; and consequently draws you into their world from the very start.

Willow’s uncomplicated but clever writing style, made it possible for me to devour this book in only a few hours. At times I was left breathless by the, heart-racing action and edge-of-your-seat suspense, but what I loved most about “Inheritance” is that there are no overtly in-your-face love scenes. Characters falling in love with each other are beautifully portrayed in a subtle way and using only a few simple sentences, Willow let’s you appreciate the deep love the characters feel for each other.

Saying that I couldn’t put this remarkable book down, is an understatement. There are so many things I loved about this book - believable lead characters; effortless transitioning from one chapter to the next; and a masterpiece ending - I will definitely be reading “Inheritance” again and again. Willow Cross clearly knows what her readers want; and how to keep them satisfied and begging for more!

I recently purchased a Willow Cross book and was asked to review one of her books as well. I opened up my Kindle and started reading the Willow Cross book for review, not realizing that it was the second book in the series. The absolutely amazing thing, aside from the writing, was that I thought it was the first in the series, not the second, all the way up until the end. The book could be a stand-alone book! I immediately picked up, and started, book one. So far it's as good as book 2, and just has a reference to Sarah and Jason, the main characters of Inheritance. To me that is amazing. Usually when you read a series you need to read all of them in order to be able to keep up.

The Dark Gifts, Inheritance, is the story of Sarah and Jason Masada, a sibling duo that has been on their own for as long as they can remember. They recently inherited their Aunt Edna's house, not even realizing they had an aunt. Just in the nick of time. It seems Jason has had some more than exciting nighttime adventures. He's been turning into a werewolf at night and returning home in the morning covered in blood, unable to remember what happened. Upon searching the house for answers they discover that there is a house, that belonged to their parents, a few hours away. The visit to the house starts them on a path to discovery they wish they hadn't started.

Jason and Sarah are met with a lot of resistance at the compound when they arrive. A compound is all that it can be described as. Sarah and Jason come from a long line of werewolves. Not only that, they are the Alpha's of the clan. A female Alpha is an abomination, and the clan feels Jason and Sarah should have been put down at birth, just as their parents were for allowing them to be born. Now Sarah and Jason are learning about their history, adjusting to being werewolves and Alpha's and fighting for their lives. Many of their clans members want them dead. Thankfully, in wolf form, they can not go against the Alpha's wishes. Therefore, they can not attack.

Soon after their arrival the second in command of the clan is viciously murdered and Jason is the main suspect. Now they are on the run again. Not only from those that wish to kill them but also from the law. Will life ever calm down for them? Not in the near future! They are destined to save the world in the fight against good and evil, run from the hunters put on Earth to kill werewolves and avoid the human law looking for Jason as a murder suspect.

The story is written so very well. I've heard amazing things about Willow's writing, and now I am so glad I read the book. I didn't feel it was a forced review read, I truly enjoyed it. The story was engaging and enthralling. I couldn't wait to jump back to book one, Birthright, to find out some more back story. This book definitely joins There for You's short list of 5 star reviews!

I was not paid for this review. The opinions expressed here are my own, I was not swayed in any way. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. Have an amazing day and keep smiling! -Melissa

The Dark Gifts: Inheritance, is the second book in the series. I had been waiting ever so patiently (*cough cough*) for this book to reach my possession. By patiently, I mean not at all. I was highly anticipating reading this book as I had absolutely loved the first book in the series.

Firstly, I knew beforehand that it would not directly link to the previous book, and consequently it was not an overall surprise when I started reading it that it did not follow on. This, I feel, was a very clever technique, as it kept you wandering throughout how it would link, therefore keeping me, and everyone else, tagging along! The story flowed perfectly, and I found that I was never confused at what was happening in the story line. Nearing the end however, it is as though a light bulb had been switched on; you realize how the story links.

Inheritance features a brand new cast of characters. You find yourself travelling along on their rollercoaster of a journey for the newly discovered werewolves, brother and sister, Sarah and Jason, clinging to their every word, action and thought. They capture you. I love how each character have defining characteristics that are both admirable and charming. You witness these characters go through the unexpected and comprehend how they mature and handle certain situations. In their own ways, they become independent, responsible and admirable. To me, I found it easy to relate, identify even with them. The story was kept alive by these characters, as they breathed life into it, and made it more real in my mind. The characters helped the story to flow easily, as you become captivated, mixed in with their emotions. You feel the need to know what happens next, what’s in store for them!

I would, without a single doubt, give Inheritance a 5/5 (or can I say 10/5? Am I allowed? As I that’s what I feel it deserves!) It kept me reading until the very last page. I was enthralled with the storyline, characters and the plot, as it was an attention-grabbing read! I would thoroughly recommend this story to anyone of the lover of the paranormal, as incorporated within are witches, vampires, werewolves and more! Thank you so much Mrs. Willow! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your work. You are a highly talented writer and I can’t wait to see what is in store for the next novel (talk about a cliff-hanger!)!

The Dark Gifts Inheritance by Willow Cross

After Jason turned 21 he thought he was losing his mind. During the three full nights of the full moon strange things were happening to him and he had no memory of what he did. He was terrified at the thought of what could be happening to him. His sister, Sara was beginning to think he needed a shrink as well. That is until the horrifying events of the last few months stopped her. Why was Jason building a huge cage in the basement of their home. When Sarah finds out her life changes forever because she is unsure if what is happening to her brother is going to happen to her. Jason and Sara, having grown up with no family are to find out that their real family isn’t even fully human. They are unprepared for the events that start developing and they have to learn quickly. Befriended by those that hunt them down they learn the true meaning of who they are and with the help of a mysterious man in the forest they find out who they are meant to be.
This story held my interest from start to finish. The characters show their feelings and frustrations as they deal with the problems of taking back a werewolf clan while trying to help save the world from something so dark and frightening that they will need their Dark Gifts Inheritance.

Inheritance starts off with heartpounding action. This book starts out with us meeting Sarah and Jason. Sarah is convinced her brother is crazy because he tells her he is a monster. Sarah learns first hand that night that her brother is a werewolf. They decide to start looking for clues about their family and learn they come from a line of werewolves.I loved Sarah because of her strength and lovefor her brother Jason. Jason is so protective and will do anything to keep her safe. I love to see amazing brother and sister bounds because it shows how much family really is important. Jason and Sarah meet Thomas who becomes like an uncle figure to them and takes them under his wing. Thomas is a great loyal family member to have and is an all around stand up guy. Sarah is in town one day and meets Shad. Oh where do I begin with Shad. He sounds so dreamy and has the whole mysterious stranger vibe down. I love Sarah and Shad as a couple and can't wait to see what happens with them. Jason falls for Shad's sister Ashley who is such a loveable character. The story continues and they are all lead to meeting Brogan another great character.Brogan tells them that something huge is coming that they need to be prepared for. I loved this book overall. It hasd a great premise and great flow. I really got into the characters of Sarah and Jason and had to keep reading to see what would happen next. I can't wait to read the next book.

Willow Cross has out done her self with this one. I am a huge fan of Willows & love all her books, but Inheritance is by far my favorite book yet. From the very start I was drawn into the world of Inheritance. I love all the different point of views, you get so much more story that way & they are wrote in a way that you don't get confused. After the death of their aunt, Sarah & Jason inherited her house. It is there they begin to discover their family secret. Which leads them on an adventure that they can hardly believe is really happening. Sarah & Jason have a great relationship, that often had me laughing out loud. This may be the 2nd book in the Dark Gifts series, but u can defiantly read Inheritance without having read Birthright (1st in the series). Do yourself a favor and read this book, it is awesome & you won't be sorry. Happy Reading :)

I bought this book on Amazon.

I loved this book! Sarah and Jason made wonderful main characters... Their childhood was so sad, then when they actually found someone in their family, all hell breaks loose. I loved how the story is wound into the first book of this series Birthright. At first I thought "How is this book 2?" LOL I am used to when a book ends, then the next book in the series startes right where the other left off. But in the end I was really really happy about this book! And the more you get into it, you start to understand. It all works perfectly!! Shad is so darn sexy! How could you not fall in love with him? I can't wait to see what is next in The Dark Gift series... I recommend this to everyone... If you love reading about werewolves this is your book. Get it now.

5 out of 5* and all I can say is WOW, I cried alot in this book! All the things that happened to these kids were.....WOW!! I love how the end tied together with Birthright, but the funny thing was I didnt tie it all together until the old medicine man came into the book, then things started clicking!!! I absolutely LOVED it Willow!! The friendships between the girls was awesome!! I was making myself a pbj sandwhich and thats when I realized that the girls were friends before! Hahaha, man, I would have thought that I would have caught on soon, but not until 5 minutes later, when I was thinking about typing my review!! You stumped me Willow and made me think!! I love it!! I don't even know where to start! I love the authors type of writing, it is way different than others in her genre. This book is the 2nd book in the series, but don't worry, it could stand alone. If you haven't read the 1st book "Birthright", you will not be lost. This book revolves more around the werewolves and the hunters, but still includes other paranormal beings, including some from "Birthright". Sarah and her brother Jason have had their share of ups and downs, but they have no clue what fate has in store for them next. A dramatic change is about to take place that neither of them could even imagine could possibly happen, much less happen to them. I usually have a favorite character in the books I read, but found it hard to pick just one in this one. I love how each one had their own part to play in this and none of them where there just to fill in a spot. The "bad guys" are most defiantly meant to be hated and are the true meaning of villain in this book. If you love suspense, a little romance, and the thrill of not knowing what hides in the next page, this is the book for you. I couldn't put this book down and can't wait until the 3rd book is released. Thanks Willow for being so creative and refreshingly different, can't wait for the adventures to continue.

Ok...I just have to say...this book is Greatness!!! She's done it again!! I absolutely LOVED this book! I could not put it down! I started out reading Birthright (The Dark Gifts Vol. 1) & was just awed! LOVED it!!! I wanted more, so I downloaded the sample of this one. It took me a few days to decide to buy the full version. I have to admit at first how bummed I was after finishing the sample of Inheritance (The Dark Gifts Vol. 2), because it seemed like a whole new storyline.....UNTIL I purchased the full copy. Don't get me wrong...the characters in this book DEFINITELY grabbed me, pulled me into their story, & held their own, but I was stuck in the mindset of Birthright, & I just wanted their story to continue on from there...to know more about Liz, Michael, The Council, & their magical journey. :) But --- Wow, either way I was hooked! I soon realized I knew some of the names these new characters were referring to as well. And then it hit me. When those critical pieces fell into place it made everything crystal clear!!! I am definitely a huge fan of Willow Cross' writing!! I will be waiting on pins & needles to read more of The Dark Gifts series!!! GREATNESS I tell you! =)

Willow is an Amazing Author ... her characters and storylines are solid and seductive

"Inheritance" is book 2 in the "Dark Gift" series but stands out on its own and is unlike any sequeal i have ever read .. at first i was a little confused because i couldnt find the link between this book and the first book in the series "Birthright" but towards the end of the book the stories merged and the link became obvious and i was thrilled with the genius of how the story stood all on its own then meshed right in the end with the first book to make it an astounding sequel!

"Inheritance" has a whole new set of characters that will capture your heart and spirit and take you on a breath taking journey that will leave you wanting more be warned once you start reading you cannot put this one down!

i have to give "Intheritance" 9 out of 5 stars.... im still in awe of the individual storyline and the unusal but phenomenal uniting to the original book in the series .... a HUGE thank you to Willow for sharing her astounding talent with us

Sarah and Jason are brother and sister that have been thru the foster care system after their parents passed away. Their aunt had left them a home with many secrets from their past they were unaware of. Jason has noticed a change in himself that scares him and wants Sarah in on it so he can find out what is happening. He’s changing into something he knows nothing about. They stumble across something in the attic that tells them they own another house and go to check it out. They meet their Aunt Shana who is a Seer. Danger creeps around them as things don’t seem so safe for them with her. They discover they both will be werewolves eventually but Jason has already started the change. Is their family there to now help them learn the ways or are they out to destroy them? What new creatures will they meet along the way? This is an edge of the seat excitement as Ms. Cross brings out the characters in her book to a new world. There has to be a sequel to this and I can’t wait for it to come out.

Werewolves like you've never known before. This captivating story will pull you into a supernatural world that is so detailed and unique...you'll wonder if it's real! Highly recommended! Don't forget to enjoy Birthright by Willow Cross to enhance your experience in the supernatural world!

Inheritance is a story about a bother and sister standing by each other in a world that seeks to destroy them. Growing up in foster homes with no knowledge of their family wasn't easy. But the changes Jason and Sarah Masada go through when they are finally living on their own... They do the best they can to understand what is happening and how to control it. But Jason is haunted by what he may have done and Sarah has a destiny she may not be ready for. With love triangles, a family at war inside and even bigger conflict, will Sarah and Jason be able to not only find themselves, but also follow Fate's design?

Willow Cross successfully weaves an exciting action-packed story in Inheritance. After my initial confusion that Inheritance didn't follow on directly from book one, I soon really enjoyed the fact that we had the opportunity to discover more about the werewolves.

Following siblings Sarah and Jason, it's very easy to get caught up the action and their journey as they search for answers. The story flows well, with a good balance of peaks of adrenaline-fuelled tension, drama and even sweet romance. On the whole, I enjoyed the plot development and the journey that the author takes her characters on.

A great series to get absorbed in!

The Dark Gifts Inheritance is the fourth book I've read by Willow Cross and once again...it didn't disappoint me. One aspect I love about Willow's style is - I wind up feeling emotionally attached to most of the characters. Love it. I also enjoyed the travel to far-away places in this book, plus the fact that our heroes can't quite seem to get on solid ground before - bam! - the next calamity happens.

This book involves werewolves and family commitments. If you thought Thanksgiving at your house was full of drama - prepare to see how complicated it can get when you wake up one day to find your new family howls at the moon and demands ultimate loyalty.

I understand there is another book in this series...yay! This story line is a winner!

Willow Cross
Inheritance
The Dark Gifts #2

Although this book is the 2nd in the series, it could easily be read as a stand-alone (but you’ll then be left wanting to read the first immediately). As with the first book, I was completely engrossed from the first chapter and just couldn’t put it down. Incredibly well written with characters that draw you in, you’ll soon be in the middle of the action rather than just reading about it. Sarah and Jason have no idea who they really are, and their feelings come across vividly as they start discovering they are not only werewolves but alphas. Obviously there would be no fun without a bit of danger, and there’s plenty of it which will keep you turning page after page. A must read for all werewolf / paranormal lovers.

My Review: First off, can we say; My god, Willow Cross is a genius! Inheritance is part of The Dark Gifts series and this little gem is a SERIOUS gift to any avid reader of the paranormal genre! I absolutely thought that Michael from the first book Birthright had me hook, line and sinker, but oh, Jason is a dish as well. I love the effortless flow with which all of Willow's book are written. But this one is absolutely my favorite right now! This book is #2 in the series but could so be a stand alone!! Bravo, Willow Cross, in the words of Brittany Spears, Oops, you did it again! 5 STARS!!! A definate must read, and I will be ordering my signed paperback for my "Shelf of Fame"!!

Oh my goodness!! Where to start?! Willow has done it again! Not only is her writing style completely addictive, her descriptions of scenes were, again, so intense that I had dreams about this book. The Werewolf/Hunter/Druid combo is just something you wouldn't expect. The character development for this book was off the charts incredible! Following Sarah and Jason through this book and seeing characters from book 1, Birthright, was amazing! I recommend this action packed book to all Paranormal lovers :)

MY REVIEW
I was gifted this book on smashwords in exchange for my honest opinion and review of it.
The cover....hmmm to be totally honest I am not sure I would pick this one up in a book store. The blurb would attract me but the cover I didn't find it as attractive and it didn't draw me in like some covers have done. Having said that the cover does represent what Sarah and Jason are very well, they are shifter's.
So Sara and Jason never knew their true heritage, so when Jason begins changing, it is an extremely scary experience. Sarah tries to help him as best as she can. They then find a clue to an address, that apparently they own. they go to investigate and are immediately surrounded by people like them, their pack. they are also soon embroiled in pack politics and rows. There is danger at every turn for them, even in the boyfriend Sarah has met and the girlfriend Jason has met. As the blurb says Jason is wanted for some rather gruesome murders, they happened the nights he "changed" but he has no recollection at all of those nights, so did he really murder anyone? Or perhaps...is he being "set up" by someone who wants to get rid of him and his sister?
I will admit when I started reading this book I was initially slightly disappointed as it doesn't really pick up from the last book Birthright. this book is not about the vampires and witches etc of Birthright. This is the story of the werewolves and how they come to be in place to be part of the supernatural war. So part of this book runs within the same time as the first book (hope that makes sense to you, its the same time line but different people) I quickly overcame my disappointment and really got into the werewolves tale. I really enjoyed this book, Willow Cross is an Amazing writer. The different chapters that tell you what is going on and where with the different character, the descriptions are detailed without being overly so. This book has danger, suspense, mystery, traitors, and a little bit of love too!
So did I enjoy it? Yes, loved it. Would I recommend it? Yes, yes, yes! Will I read more of this series? Yes please, looking forward to the next bk in the series. Will I read more by Willow Cross? Definitely!

First, Thank you SO much Ms. Willow Cross, for giving me a copy to read and put up on my blog... I was so intrigued by the cover, but I am thrilled to say I LOVED it when I opened it and started reading...

This story is literally about tragedy and what you do to pick yourself up and keep on surviving after those brutal happenings. This is Sarah and Jason's story, who are siblings, who lost their parents at a very young age, and grew up in foster care. They then inherit their long lost aunt's home and find out that their family is MUCH BIGGER than they ever thought, and some crazy things are going down...

First, I need to say that Ms. Cross writes to wonderfully, you get sucked in and you feel what the characters feel. You cheer for them, and you want revenge with them, and you want to love, and cry, and scream with them... Now, let's get to the characters...

Sarah is your typical sweet, high school sister, who cooks and cleans, and makes sure that the clothes are done... until things get weird with Jason, and her world comes crumbling down. Then, Sarah gets bad @$$ and you find out right along with her, the fantasic, remarkable things she is capable of...

Jason is HOT :) hahahaha ok, he's like the best big brother, who is just trying to figure out what the hell is going on, and how he can protect his sister from the whole world. He's a remarkably beautiful wolf, both inside and out (no, saying wolf is not spoiler, b/c there is a wolf on the cover) :) and I think I really like Ashley for him (no dibs on that since it's a spoiler)

Peter is the pack wolf that goes on the ride with Sarah and Jason bc he can't help his love for Sarah and no, you cannot help who you love! But, I must say he's a good guy (I need a Peter) and even if his heart breaks daily, I'm so glad he's there with Sarah and Jason. :)

Shad, Ashley, Brogan, Liz, and Mar are important characters, but I will keep my opinions to myself so as to not spoil all the goodies...

All in all, this is a fantastic book, well written, flows and is a fast read, and I CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on the next installment of this series!! :)

A girl born to save the world.....My review of Inheritance: The Dark Gifts by Willow Cross

Rating 5 *****stars!

This book was provided free from the author in exchange for honest literary review.

Sarah and Jason have really had some horrible luck with life. Orphaned as small kids they had to endure the foster care care system for the vast majority of their childhood. Then after Jason became of age, he did take custody of his sister but struggled financially to make ends meet. When their Aunt Edna passed away and leaves the pair a house in their will, it seems an answers to some of their problems ........how wrong they were! .
Soon after they get settled, it seems Jase has not statted shifting on the full moon to a gianormus wolf. Then as they sift through the papers in the attic, it seems they may have more family than they ever knew about. But the question is why would their family leave them? And did they all get furry and howl at a full moon?

I have to say Willow has done it again. New take on old concept. The characters arw delightful. Sarah is compassionate yet strong. Jason is a hot head but still dedicated to family first, and protecting the only sister he has over everything. There was action, romance and even some family drama to boot. There's always one right! ( in every family) lol. Go pick this one up you wont be disappointed!!!!!!

LOVED this book!

At first i was wondering how it fitted in with the first book, and was a little disappointed that the story didnt carry on with Michael and Liz....but i didnt need to be!

This book revolves around a brother and sister, Jason and Sarah, who were orphaned. Suddenly Jason begins to have nights where he cant remember what has happened, waking up naked in the woods and covered in blood.
Waiting for the next night, he caged himself and Sarah stayed to watch what happened.
Yup, he turned into a werewolf. A big one.

Shocked they find a deed title to a house nearby and visited to find an uncle and aunt that run a pack that jason and Sarah belong to, and come to terms with what is happening - to both of them. Sarah's change was especially special as she turns into an alpha. A female alpha is unheard of.

This obviously doesnt run smoothly, and soon hunters are on their tale and theyre fighting for their lives and end up on the run.

Towards the end they meet Brogan, who we met in the first book, and he guides them into helping and recruiting other packs to help in the upcoming war, that we followed the beginning of in book one.

A great book that finally does link with book one and i am looking forward to reading the next installment! Written well, great characters and a brilliant storyline that keeps you turning the page till the last page!

read on behalf of the author for an honest review

The second book in Willow Cross's Dark Gifts series is just as compelling as the first. Two orphans find they have a family with a dark secret after they come of age. At first I thought this first book was completely unrelated to the first, only linked by the fact that the characters have a dark gift. I was well into the story before I realized that instead of this plot merely being a continuation of the first story, it was a separate thread that Willow was expertly weaving into the whole saga.

As usual, I'm going to complain about editing. Willow has assured me that it is being re-edited by her new editor. I strongly recommend that you buy this book from amazon, as they will email you notification and send the updated file when the book is re-edited. I don't mean to snub any other vendors, but as far as I know, amazon is the only one that does this with Kindle books. That's all I'm going to say on the subject as it is in the process of being fixed, but feel that it should still be mentioned as it does take away from the enjoyment factor of a good book.

All in all, another excellent story from Willow Cross. Love the premise and can't wait to read the third and final book in the series to see how it concludes.

This was an amazing story as a sequel or as a stand alone. I did not have the opportunity to read the first book in this series and to tell you the truth the author does such an amazing job with this story you don't need to read it unless you want to. Characters are well developed, story line flows from beginning to end.. nothing is rushed.. or left too vague. In other words it was great!

I love a good paranormal and this one surprising starts off as solely wolf... as the story progresses we find that it starts to bring in other elements and hints at still others that we will surely see in the next book. Very endearing story about family, friendship, loyalty and honor... you find that indeed you do not always inherit money or other material things, sometimes you inherit love or a dog or two :D

I really enjoyed the other books by this author so I am not surprised that I really enjoyed this one. I can't wait to get my teeth into the next book to see where the story goes from here!

I read this book without reading the first book. I just want to let everyone know- this is part of a series but completely able to stand alone. You don’t need to read he first one to find this a great read. This is a great book because of that and I applaud Cross for such good writing. So the basic plot is that Sarah and her brother find they don’t exactly know their past every well. In fact they were actually hidden by their past and do not know about their family history of werewolves and have to deduce that her brother is one from what is going on.

This was a book was paced well and fun to read. The story clicks along well and you just have to keep reading. By then end characters enter that are from the first book, but that does not matter if you know who they are or not, the story is still able to follow along. Those werewolf fans won’t be disappointed with this book.
