Arabian Nights

BankersLab CEO, Michelle Katics, jetted off to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by invitation of the Saudi Credit Bureau (SIMAH). The one-day workshop invited participants from local banks to put their skills to the test in CollectionLab . We were delighted that such a large number of delegates were keen to join us, which culminated in some stiff competition! A big thank you to all the teams for their enthusiasm – and special congratulations to team “Tree Bank”, who generated the highest net income and won the game. How did they do it? Upon the occasion of their victory, Tree Bank commented to the class, "we focused on the key drivers such as how the application score impacted volume, loss and revenue, and how the collection severity impacted attrition and delinquency rates". Well done!

Olá Portugal!

Recently we facilitated a CreditLab simulation competition for staff at Millenium BCP in Portugal. Having run workshops with participants from over 40 countries it’s always fascinating to see the differences from country to country. In Portugal we saw some of the best examples of great teamwork. A good decision making process has a positive impact both on the simulation result and the ‘real’ bottom line of the bank – so working well together provides a powerful competitive advantage! The Lisbon team finished first with a strong result and waited patiently for all the team results to come in. Finally, Team “Strawberry” in Porto claimed victory, with lively and spirited banter along the way. Perhaps going through an economic crisis has bonded the teams strongly, or the Portuguese are collaborative by nature, or both - but either way, congratulations for a job well done!

Managing Materiality in Prague

One of our latest workshops in the beautiful city of Prague, highlighted once again the most important aspects of successful portfolio management. During the final rounds of the simulation game the winning team started quite dramatically losing – why? They sheepishly admitted that during the downturn “we just kept doing what we’ve always done!” Neck deep in reports, they had given up trying to define key recommendations, and had just maintained the status quo which had worked for them in the past..big mistake! But we’ve all been there right? So how can you cut effectively through information overload and keep a straight head? To help we’ve put together some of our top hacks here .

FemTech Leaders Unite!

“A blistering hot, fruitful garden, Fintech hub. Hot, hot, hot”. That’s how FemTech leader Ghela Boskovich described her recent trip for Singapore’s inaugural Meetup of the Global FemTech Leaders Network – and she wasn’t wrong! This packed out event (with a long waiting list) highlighted just how much FinTech scene is growing in Singapore. The lively panel discussion, which included our CEO Michelle Katics, was a fascinating look at the need for diversity in the industry and the opportunities and challenges faced today. What I liked most about the CollectionLab was the Simulation; it was very smart and the reports straight forward. I enjoyed the challenge of strategy adjustment in terms of collection, it seems like a real case, so nice for my work.” – Participant, Saudi Arabia
