Nicholas Nixon (American, born 1947)

Nixon employed a large view camera, which uses 8 x 10 inch sheets of film, to make this extended view. Nixon chose the camera because of its potential for tonal clarity, permitting one to easily distinguish buildings in the distant city skyline as well as changes in the river’s windblown currents.
