67's Chmelevski, Senators prospect Chabot among CHL award winners

Ottawa 67’s forward Sasha Chmelevski and Senators defence prospect Thomas Chabot were among the Canadian Hockey League award winners announced on Saturday.

Chmelevski was awarded the CIBC scholastic player of the year award for achieving a 98 per cent average across his six Grade 12 courses through Michigan’s Virtual Charter Academy. He had 21 goals and 22 assists, appearing 43rd among North American players listed by NHL Central Scouting in advance of the NHL draft.

Chabot, who played for the Saint John Sea Dogs, was named the Superstore defenceman of the year after scoring 10 goals and 35 assists in just 34 games played.
